First, while you may have found their tumblr hilarious, I certainly didn't. So stop asserting your opinion as the end all, be all of moral opinions about a blog.
Can you explain how exactly it is that I'm doing this? I argued for the blog but using that as a justification is entirely reversible. I could say that since you don't find it funny and are arguing that it's not, you're doing the EXACT same thing that you accused me of doing. And plus, that was ENTIRELY irrelevant to what I was actually saying in that paragraph. My point is that I found it funny and that's the reason why I shared and I would have shared it whether I found it on my own or if I knew them. So should I just not share things that I enjoy on this forum because some people will hate it and attack it because they can?
Second, this is the internet; there is no human decency here.
Well, that's not true! But even if it is, it's only because we don't hold people accountable for the way that they behave on the internet. Aren't there multiple fucking topics here devoted to talking about whether or not bad behavior is excusable on this forum because it's just a cheat site for Neopets? Do you hold people accountable for their actions here? Oh, you do, just selectively, right? Just the people who no one likes or who pisses everyone off.
The fact that I'm not talking to anyone face to face is irrelevant.
Actually, it totally is relevant! http://www.guardian....section.privacy
I only skimmed the article but it talks about how removing the face to face aspect of communication leads to people violating the social norms and contracts that keep you from being a big huge dickback!
People make judgements all the time, even your goddesses. So do you. You've just called whoever didn't agree with you a shit, didn't you?
No, actually. I was speaking in general about the state of human social interaction on the internet. I wasn't referring to anyone in this thread or on this forum, though I do absolutely think that some of the people in the thread were being gigantic assholes. But I don't think they were being gigantic assholes because they disagreed with me. I thought they were being gigantic assholes because of what they were saying and how they were talking to me!
Not everything in the world is made of sugar and spice and everything nice, stirred by virginal maidens with lots of love mixed in. I hate Mitt Romney. I don't just dislike him, I genuinely hate him. Why equivocate?
Edit: lol@ Elle, did not see your post until after I typed mine up. Human decency... made me chuckle.
No, not everything in the world is sunshine and daisies. Duh. That's my point, actually. That people suck hardcore and they don't have to if we simply hold ourselves and each other responsible. It's the attitude that we can't do anything to cause each other to change that's the problem. 'Asshole' is not a genetic condition.
@Elle So I can't tell a person off for thinking that black people are lazy or that Jewish people are greedy? I mean, it's just like, their opinion, man. And how dare I come in and tell them that their opinion--that which protects you from all criticism--is based off of ignorance or hatred? Man, I am such a dick.
