I think they're disgusting. Not because they're girls and they're doing ungirly things, but because they're humans, and they're doing disgusting things. If your boyfriend was sitting there chewing on his toenails, is that something you'd be appreciative of? Bitch please, i'd make that mofo wash his mouth out with hand sanitizer. Also, they seem to revel in the fact that they have a feral sense of fashion and no self respect.

What makes you think they have no self-respect?

Well this is true, i'm judging their lack of self respect purely by their blog; but i mean c'mon , look at them.

The two main girls who run the Tumblr are real life friends of mine. They actually have plenty of self-respect and are both very nice and funny and, in fact, the girl with the tattoo who you all seem to hate thinks that this topic and you people are hilarious.

If you didn't want negative attention, you shouldn't have posted it. ;)

What does being your friends, and being nice and funny have to do with their self respect? I guess its a mutual thing then, cause i think she's pretty hilarious also.

You jump to a lot of conclusions about how we feel, or if we even care enough to "hate" someone based on superficial judgements that a few people have passed along. That is what she should find hilarious.

It's not even about that at all. I can handle negative attention. I defended my friends when you(third person) called them ugly and I also tried to point out that some of you are REALLY sexist, whether you mean to be or not. Defending my friends and what the blog is trying to say doesn't mean that I'm whining about the fact that some of you think they're ugly, think the blog is stupid, think that I'm a bitch, or think whatever the fuck it is that you think. I'm defending them and it because I think you're wrong and it's something that I really care about. That is, feminism.

Honestly, I'm just happy that some people saw it and are now following it because it means that my friend will be more motivated to post more hilarious stories and maybe, she'll even get strangers to post, which is great.

One thing that you might want to consider working on understanding if you plan to do anything like this in the future, is that not everyone holds the same beliefs and ideals as you. Posting something which seemed to be a lighthearted, innocent link-share to a blog which you called "hilarious" is one thing, steering the thread toward a debate on feminism and implying that we are small-minded and sexist because of some things that people have said about the blog is completely something else. And now we find out that these people are your friends. I think it's kind of unfair to come out with this information now, after you've already made this thread into what it is. If people had known that they were your friends, they might have spoken differently of them. If they weren't your friends, you might not have gotten so butthurt about it.

People post negative shit about things all the time on the internet. If people who made videos or blogs spent their time arguing with everyone who posted a negative comment, they would never create anything new. The negativity would consume them.

Feminism tends to completely disregard men's issues though so no, I'm not a feminist.

False. Patriarchy and gender roles negatively effect men too.

There's people in every subgroup of people who give the entire group a bad name, I don't understand why people always have to bring up radical feminists in every discussion about feminism. They're a minority.

Because condescending to me is obviously the best way to get me to play nice with people who are pretty incendiary themselves!

I didn't intentionally steer it towards feminism. Everyone was talking about how ugly these women are and how disgusting they are. Since that's ALL anyone was talking about, I wanted to point out that them being disgusting is the point of the whole blog and that conventional beauty is bullshit. I wasn't implying that everyone in the thread is small-minded and sexist. Maybe I was for some people. I actually thought that most of what you had to say was pretty great.

It's not important that they're my friends. I brought it up because Elle said that they look like they have no respect and since I know them in person, I know that they do actually have self-respect. That was the only reason why I brought up that I know them. I don't know all of the girls who have posted on the blog and I think each and every one of them is drop-dead gorgeous and was defending the girls I don't know just as much as the ones I do.

There's a difference between being passionate and being butthurt. I care a shit ton about this stuff and believe in defending it and even dying for it, really. I'm not offended that some people think the girls are ugly or that the blog is stupid. I AM offended by people trying to use the word 'feminist' as an insult. But I'm not butthurt about it.

I brought up gender roles because multiple said they were grossed out by the things these women posted and you even posted about how you don't fart, which is a gender stereotype! I also never said that you think women are inferior because you don't find these girls attractive! I said you're shallow and have ideas about what a woman 'should' look like, which is, again a gender stereotype. There's a difference! You can think they're ugly and I can say that I think you're wrong.

How do you know I have "ideas" about what a woman should look like?
Just because I don't personally find these women attractive suddenly I am conforming to some stereotype?
You assume that because these particular women don't appeal to my personal taste, that I find the "conventional" woman attractive?
Maybe everyone just has unique taste...

Okay, that's fair. I'm an asshole for assuming things about you. My assumptions are based off of biased observations but it is unfair for me to jump to conclusions. But you're not the only person in the thread who I'm speaking about.

That actually is pretty damn condescending. I am not an ignorant child. I know that not everyone agrees with me or believes in the same things that I do. But the idea of anyone not believing in women being equal is abhorrent to me and also something I find ridiculous because there's no evidence to believe something like that.

Come on guys lets keep it real. If someone called your friend ugly you'd defend them.

And the point of this blog has nothing to do with their attractiveness what so ever. I'm sure you've complimented yourself before, don't jump on them for calling themselves goddesses. I'm a fucking QUEEN.

    Dude. You are being ridiculous.
This whole topic doesn't even have anything to do with equality.
It's disgusting when men do those things too.

I am baffled as to why you are even still arguing. Nymh is trying to HELP you.

Why would she even post her friend's tumblr? Seriously.
And as Nymh said.. she could have mentioned well beforehand that they were her friends and people may have been more sensitive.

It doesn't matter that they're my friends. I wasn't defending them because they are my friends. I was defending them because I actually think they are beautiful women. Like I said, I don't know all of the girls but I was defending all of them anyway.

People make tumlbrs in the hopes that they'll get more followers. I post my friends tumblrs when they ask me to advertise for them. How was she supposed to know people would immediately start commenting on their looks? Like yeah I get it, not everyone likes to hear about tampon strings and scab picking. And some of the shit I read was downright disgusting. But to take a tumblr made in good fun and to start making negative comments about their personalities and their ~self respect~ is pretty ignorant whether they're her friends or complete strangers.

Well I can't say anything in response to the bottom half of your response because I didn't make comments about their self respect.
I personally found some entries funny, which I mentioned. I personally found some of the women attractive, which I also mentioned.
BUT I also found some unattractive, and some entries repulsive. Again, the good, the bad, and the ugly. She should know when sharing something like this there will be good and bad reactions. That's the fun of it. It's meant to get a rise isn't it? Isn't that the fun in it? So chill out and let people have their own opinion on things, you know? Don't make it a big deal. Just laugh it off like the girls on the blog do, they clearly don't care what people think, so why should she?
