There's a review. They summarised with "iOS 6? More like iOS 5.5" so I guess they weren't too impressed either.

Could have told you it sucked when I got it a month ago.

[Obligatory on topic bit] I don't mind it, I was expecting a bit more (one of my good friends is an apple nut and he was so freaking excited it raised my hopes)
[What I really want to say] Oh my god Random your signature is terrifying. You seem such a well-groomed person that you have always been Patrick Bateman in my head and now BOOM it's like a confession

Don't feel like I'm missing out all that much cause most of the new features that they added over the past few iterations have been possible with a jailbroken device (change wallpaper and folder support) Sure there are things like the notification centre (sbsettings doesn't give you the same information) and ibooks that's missing but I'd never use those anyways.
Still can't believe they got rid of Google Maps.

Why can't you believe it? I like the fact that apple are getting rid of the Google apps like Youtube and Maps. They were really crappy, especially the Youtube app, in my opinion. Now it will force Google to make their apps better and faster to compete with the apple stuff.
It will turn out great for the consumers.

They didn't get rid of Maps because of its quality or to benefit consumers, they got rid of it so they wouldn't have to pay Google for using it.

This is true, but doesn't change the fact that we'll still eventually benefit from this.
But you're right, I'm sure they were paying a great deal of money to have those apps there.

No, Apple has absolutely no interest in creating competition. The old maps app was more functional, wasn't missing roads, and had a more practical interface. People generally aren't going to seek out the best product, they're going to use the one they get by default. And if Apple ever lets Google release its maps app in the app store, it's probably going to have ads.

The hell? I get to compare the latest of Android versus the latest of Apple every single day seeing as my wife has an IPhone 4 and I have a Galaxy SIII and Nexus 7. In terms of navigation, Google Maps has ALWAYS been faster and more accurate as compared to the Apple default. When it comes to street walking, Apple pretty much breaks down completely whereas I've not been led astray once with Google Maps.
And trust me, my view is very unbiased as I have an equal amount of Apple products in my house as Android ones (including tablets).

Up until today, iphones and androids used the same mapping technology in their default apps...they were both powered by Google.

Completely unrelated but the double meaning of 'street walking' tickled me.

Harold, it's Random. You're my lawyer so I think you should know: I've killed a lot of Neopets. Some Korbats in an apartment uptown uh, some homeless Tonus maybe 5 or 10 - um, a college Nimmo I met in Neopian Central. I left her in a parking lot behind some donut shop. I killed a Lupe, my old girlfriend, with a Rod of Dark Nova, and some pet, uh some old Poogle with a Mootix last week. I killed another Neopet with a Honey Potion, I had to, she almost got away and, uh, someone else there I can't remember, maybe a pet spotlight, but she's dead too. And Majal_Kita. I killed Majal_Kita with an SoS in the face, his body is dissolving in a bathtub in the Haunted Woods. I don't want to leave anything out here. I guess I've killed maybe 20 Neopets, maybe 40.

I mean just take a look at this if you need more convincing that the new Maps app was not ready.

Needless to say, I won't be upgrading to iOS6. Anyway, seeing as I use my iPad mainly for reading, there really is no need to upgrade.

Yes, competition is good in most cases, but considering that Google Maps is a free product, competition in essentially what is a knowledge product seems redundant.
Google Maps wasn't free, Apple had to license it from Google for use on its phones.

He means that the browser app is free to users.
