tar xzf filename or tar xjf filename are the ones I use most often

Hahaha, man page. Virtual equivalent of man caveIf the prompt says no googling, then I assume it's sitting on a machine that is capable of doing some reasonable things. Ok, fine, you can't google. But no one ever said you couldn't look up the man page.
