Can someone explain to me... and I'm not being condescending -- why is there such a large appeal to this series? I tried watching it because a bunch of bronies recommended it to me and I just couldn't get into it. At all. There must be something "appealing" because there's a massive fanbase.

It's an ok show, with alot of gif-able moments. That's about it really.

The following the show has had is much too large to just be associated with Lauren. Hell, all Lauren has done is increased the shows quality. All the deranged fans are in love with the ponies themselves, and not Lauren for the work she did.

Well i wont say all the fans are deranged but yea, most people love the show for the characters that faust had created she did a wonderful job sculpting their personalities and quirks

I dunno, I like it more for the fandom than anything else. I love the art, I love the fanmusic, I love the animations, merchandise, plushies and jewellery...

 

As for why I like the show, it's like a cohesive version of Adventure Time. Lady Rainicorn, Rainbow Dash, apparently one's awesome and the other is part of a show pedos watch.

I think that some men find it 'cool' in being lame and watching mlp. Also, I think guys will watch a tv show just to get 'closer' to a chick. I've convinced heaps of my guy friends to watch mlp LOL =3

What happened to the days of Rocko's Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Ahhh! Real Monsters and the like?
PPG was alright, Dexter's Lab was good. Never heard of of Fosters and EE&E was good as well

 

I just can't bring myself to watch MLP, too much sunshine and happiness

Adventure Time, Regular Show, Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls and of course My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And those are just the ones I watch, I'm sure there are other good cartoon shows around.

 

 

Then maybe it's time to grow up and stop watching cartoons.
