Is there something I can download that will make IRC ding when someone says something?

IRC used to be very active on most evenings. I guess when JCRboy left, that kinda fizzled out.

 

Yeah! I don't know what its like with other clients, but with mIRC if you right click on a channel name you can turn on beeping/flashing! So every time a someone posts in the channel it'll do just that :3

 

 

(I had no idea you could enable tips for a single channel until just now! Those are little popup boxes that appear in the corner of your screen for a few seconds which tell you if something has happened, and gosh they can be really handy~ I guess you could enable those too but they can get a bit.... intrusive if there are a lot of people talking in the channel :s I have them enabled for when I get PMs hehehe :3

You could also use a nickalert script!! It'll make a little box appear when someone says your nick ^^ )

Now's a good time to start, actually. There isn't anyone in there.

That's how I started. First I went in there by myself, then when one other person was in there, etc.

Of course, it only took me a year to build up to this point.
