How to be an Advanced+ Prospect

There are a few things that you'd be able to do to help increase the probability of being nominated into the folds of Advanced+ at this time.

  • Have 500+ posts
    • Having 500 posts isn't an instant ticket to Advanced+ so if you spam you're not likely to get it.
    • Please refrain from using l33tsp34k and try to use proper grammar and spelling.
  • Being helpful by adding programs
    • Members such as Valorous are often nominated and granted Advanced+ far ahead of the curve. If you don't program though there are plenty of other things you can do to get nominated.
  • Being helpful by adding content
    • Guides, contests, and new threads that are interesting add a lot to our community and really further your standings within the community. These are beneficial toward getting yourself a positive Advanced+ Nomination.
  • Being helpful by participating in stuff
    • We have a ton of events, contests, and miscellaneous stuff and if you actively participate or at least talk about them then it helps you a great amount when you are nominated. We love seeing stuff like this.
  • Being helpful with new members
    • Being helpful in general is really good for all of us. It's especially useful if you help greet new people and answer their questions. Just like we did with you when you joined our community. You could easily be the difference between someone being active or not.

What Advanced+ membership does for you:

Please change "with" to "by" for the first 3 points.

    Being helpful BY adding content.

    Please.

Don't forget the fact that all advanced member nominations at least one program submission to be taken seriously

(this is a subtle hint to maybe move that to the bottom since it probably doesn't apply to many or any people)

I was trying to rank it by order of importance.

Considering your original account was Retired I'm sure you could just ask a friend to nominate you and see what happens? I'm not sure how the rules apply for members who have their accounts deleted and then make new ones?

Can we add, "use proper grammar and spelling" under the part about 500 posts and spamming, please? (so as an example don't post in chat speak, but things like Lol, Rofl, tldr, are fine since those are commonly used. Just don't post like, h3y Guys, L03T my acct, h8 th1s.) It doesn't have to be prefect, just read and understandable.

Really bad writing, in my opinion, can lower your chances of getting advanced+, because even if you're trying to help, if your grammar and writing take away from what you're trying to say, you really aren't helping. (as your post is hard to read, and may possibly be confusing).

Of course, if you're from a foreign country and English is a bit hard for you, this would be ignored because it isn't fair to those who learned English as a second+ language.

    1. Don't be annoying/a dick.

But then people have gotten in with that too, so I don't know.

Be helpful-annoying. People will look past and excuse your annoying-ness if you're also helpful.

Unlikely to happen. There hasn't been a member voted into Retired for ages. (Personally, I believe the Retired rank to be a bit pointless, except for those 'original' members from back in the day to bitch about how their wheelchair wheels squeak too loudly and those damn kids down the road wrecking their yards).

Also, Yung, this info is pretty much the same (with a few exceptions) as what is in that pinned thread, so I see no need for it. Feel free to post the info in the existing thread as an update (or alternatively, I can add it to the OP of the pinned thread as an update). If you want rep for it that bad, I can add in a credit to you.

Without any intermediate usergroups between Advanced+ and Retired you're probably going to be wanting that Retired Usergroup Bar for a long... long time. :/

That isn't permanent... Everything is subject to change.

What would the point of an intermediary rank be? What would they get?

We need to add a clause that they must be relatively (and consistently) active. I wouldn't vote yes for someone who isn't even actively playing anymore. i understand if the person took a 1-3 month absence, but 2 years is unreasonable in the sense that there is an unlikelihood that they can even use the perks of advanced+ or even talk on this forum anymore. I just feel they have to be active to be advanced+, but that is my personal preference.

Don't get me wrong, vote for them if you (everyone who can read this message), as an advanced+ member, believes that they deserve advanced+ regardless of active status as long as they have 500 posts. I ain't stopping anyone when it comes to that. Nominate as much 500+ post people as you want if all that matters if the post count. I believe someone drove that point already.

An Intermediate Usergroup would pose many benefits for our entire community.

It would more so be a goal for Advanced+ members to work toward which is something that is lacking for the jump from Advanced+ to Retired.

They would get a title more prestigious than that of Advanced+ which was always meant to be more of a way of regulating the system to prevent the people from spamming their way to free Advanced.

We should talk about this in a new thread.

Why don't you put a few good points together and stick a thread in suggestions?

i second this. at the rate neopets is going, there will be less players. awarding advanced+ to non-active players is kinda pointless.
