To put it simply, people out on a facade for long periods of time yet when drama or conflict/confrontation happens, they snap back to their original behaviour and attitude.

Yet magically change again within minutes.

I understand what you are saying, but is it necessary to stir the pot? People are already a little uptight and on-edge with this, why not just let it be and let people cool down? Sure people change when they get defensive and feel their character is being attacked, who wouldn't?
