I am so excited to have his stuff here finally!
He sold and gave away all of the things he didn't wish to keep over a year ago, and had the movers come box up and prepare the rest for shipment at the same time. So Joe has literally only had what he came over here with in two suitcases for the past year. He is especially glad to have his computer back
Our DVD collection has more than quadrupled, and our board/card game collection doubled. Plus lots more artwork, books, mementos, trinkets, and other things.

What were you doing over in europe? studing abroad?
Anyway, I guess £800 isn't terrible, with storage and everything. I wouldn't have been able to guess how much that would cost, but my guess probably wouldve been higher

Yeah, sorry @Dan, didn't mean to skip your question. The shipping was about £800, but I had to pay quite a bit for storage on top of that because the shipping company screwed up
So 800 Euro didn't cost more than re-buying all the things you need to move to a new country? Go figure.

What he came over with? Clothes, a couple books, a couple games, his laptop, his camera, and English foodstuffs that we can't get here (which are long long gone).

That's not bad at all. I'd definitely pay that and ship over a pallet-worth my stuff, if only to avoid the hassle of selling & rebuying all of my various items...
@Turnip I know the containers you mean - they're huge!

...good? I don't even remember.
And I'm actually running the whole rig on a power converter, so as far as the electronics are concerned, they're all still on 240v 50hz

Please tell me you're not running it on a standard adapter, you're actually using a proper transformer? (I'm sure you wouldn't be this silly, just checking)
