Question:
If I give a Basic dragon a new "gene" what color will it be?
Let's say I give Circuit to a dragon with Basic Green for their tertiary...will it be a Green Circuit or a random color?
(Word vomit but w/e)

It will become the colour of the basic gene 
(so yes, a green basic tertiary gened dragon will turn out green circuit when a circuit gene is applied).

I've been hoarding Thresher Flatfins and Water Sprites. Hopefully they'll be more valuable in a year or two.

I've got quite a few of those stocked up too. I'll probably buy a bunch on the last day of the event to randomly sell over time.

Okay so... last night I realized I didn't have any nests, and I had a few dragons that were eligible (their colors didn't go together) so I went shopping.
These are the first pair. I bought the female imp for the male skydancer

I'm trying to not buy any more dragons xD I just went through and exalted a few and none are ready to breed for at least a week. I have two nests that will be ready to hatch on Sunday.

I now have two festival chests in total thanks to Bone, who gave me one out of pity.
On an unrelated note, I found a Dreameater Crate the other day. Both the chest and the skin are currently only selling for gems on the Auction House. Should I hold onto it for a while or attempt to sell for treasure?

May as well list it for treasure. Exchange rate hovers around 400-450 treasure per gem, from what I have seen.

Hmm, I just noticed the skins are listed for more than the unopened crates. I saw a couple of them sell for significantly less the other day, so I'm unsure if the ones currently listed are overpriced, or if the others were sold for less than they're worth.

What happens to the chests if they aren't opened by the end of the week? I've been hoarding my chests and buying skins in the marketplace.The chests usually sell for more, though the reason for that is completely baffling to me.

Nothing, you can hoard them and sell them later or open them or sell them now, either way they will stay in your hoard if you don't do anything with them.
