As old members of the site know, I like to spend approximately half my life gallivanting around the world. I blame the fact that it was my job for a while. This makes me permanently antsy when I've been in London for more than ooh, about a fortnight and I need to start thinking about where to go next.

So. Money is no object. You have a limitless sabbatical from work (I don't know why you're still working when money is no object; apparently you really love your job). The world is suddenly politically stable so no worries there. Your children/pets/devil-spawn are being cared for by unknown yet reliable forces and I promise you're not going to miss them. Where do you go, what do you see? Cities, natural wonders, events...(but the running of the bulls at Pamplona, not a Taylor Swift concert please). <_<

Share your ultimate travel bucket list with me. And then people can come along, say they've been and that actually, it wasn't all that and crush your dreams!!!! Or tell you it was everything you've ever imagined and make you insanely jealous.  ;)

Please include many photos to satisfy my need for travel porn, kthx. (All mine are in the spoilers)

I'm quite lucky in that work let me cross most cities off, and I've managed a couple of my further flung ones...which makes the majority of mine based on scenery. :p Also mine change fairly frequently but at the moment I've got travel crushes on:

South America

Machu Picchu, Peru - This is more so I can say I've been, rather than a real desire to go. I'm also aware that I would not be fond of the hiking involved and it's something I should probably do while I'm still young and fit. Unlikely I'll ever get round to it. :p

Spoiler

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia - You have probably seen all the perspective photos that everyone does...if not, you should google it. Really I'd like to go in the rain so it's like a giant mirror of the sky.

Spoiler

Marble Caves in Chile

Spoiler

SE Asia

This is my serious consideration atm. I'm hoarding travel books and staring at maps and looking up various flights quite a lot.

Cambodia

Spoiler

Myanmar (Burma)

Spoiler

Jordan & Israel

Mostly because I think Jerusalem is possibly the only city left on my list that I really want to go to. But I wouldn't mind a quick trip to Petra.

Spoiler

Northern Norway

I've managed the Scandinavian cities but I'd really love to go out into the country...

Don't be difficult. You have to start somewhere. :p And you don't mean everywhere anyway. For instance, nobody has ever thought "I'd really like to go to Grimsby one day".

    Japan. I'll start at Japan.

    Then hit up Svalbard.

Maybe Machu Picchu next (it is pretty iconic).

    Cave diving in Mexico.

A deep sea dive somewhere. Anywhere, really.

    Quick fly-by Saudi.

    Roadtrip across the outback.

Drop in on each of the poles.

    Fourwheel across some saltflats.

    Ooh, so many things.

Yosemite (there are a lot of places in the US that I still need to visit, but this is #1)

    Spoiler

My sister was just in Yosemite! ugh so jealous of her.

I've always wanted to go to a state park, or anywhere that has no light pollution, see all the stars and everything.

I would go to all the places already mentioned. The world is a beautiful place, I'm kind of with Sweeney, in saying I'D GO ANYWHERE/EVERYWHERE.

I've always wanted to pull a "Yes man" and just go to the airport and take the next flight out, to wherever the heck it was going. It would be an adventure haha

Some of the places mentioned are like a dream, its just insane how beautiful it is. I wish I had the money to travel the world.

There's so many places I want to go, so many I'd love to return to.

Lumbini - the birthplace of Buddha, Nepal:

    Spoiler

Altamira Caves - (I should put myself on a waiting list now. They let like five people a week in, apparently):

    Spoiler

Those are kinda the main two I want to go to right now. I want to visit humanity's origins.

    But seriously...

    - South East Asia. If I had the time, I'd take like two months out to go to vietnam, a bit of china, Cambodia and Laos.

    - Japan. Love me some Japanese girls. Cultures interesting as well.

    - Madagascar. The worlds own natural paradise. Looked up trips, like £4-5000 per trip.

    - Vegas. Again. Gambling, hookers, alcohol, guns. What's not to like?

    - Italy. Take someone for a romantic tour of Rome (guaranteed to get laid)

    - Australia. Great Barrier Reef and sharks. How awesome is that?

    - North Korea. Because ya know, to be different.

Everywhere Frizzle wants to go makes me have diarrhea just thinking about it.

I'd like to go to the Grand Canyon. Look at it. Then go home. Just can never find the time.

I really just want to go lay on the beach. It doesn't even matter where.

Japan, most definitely. I won't allow myself to die before I go there.

I also want to see the major historic sites like the Colosseum before it gets withered away. I'd like to see the aurora borealis, take a camping trip to Switzerland in the cold winter, and visit any tourist sites where many people have been murdered.

When I was little, I always thought it'd be super romantic to go put a lock on that one bridge with my soulmate. Coincidentally, I recently found out the bridge broke from the weight of the locks and it was shut down.

Ooh, that I've done. It was just a section of the railings broke off....and they're on basically every bridge in Paris now because the Pont des Arts is so full so you could still do it. :p

Some of mine in no particular order (which haven't been already denigrated by pesky people), there's wayyyy too many to list comprehensively:

Pretty much the whole of Eastern Europe and the Baltics, in particular Riga in Latvia which looks soooooo pretty and the Romanian countryside which I've heard is rather beautiful and not full of rampaging, benefit-scrounging gypsies.

    Spoiler

Rome (I hear it has nice ice cream), Verona (Romeo & Juliet is set there, I think that's a good enough reason) and Florence (again because of the prettiness) in Italy.

    Spoiler

Pretty much all of Scandinavia because the cities seem amazing and the countryside looks beautifully bleak. I also fancy trying skiing because I have two largely functional knees. ;)

    Spoiler

The Galapagos Islands because they're unique and you never know how long they're going to stay that way.

    Spoiler

The Maldives, similar to above, but they're almost certainly going to disappear completely in the not too distant future.

    Spoiler

Just about all of South-East Asia because it's so different culturally to what I'm used to experiencing.

    Spoiler

Hawaii because it's in the middle of nowhere + pretty + volcanoes (I do love me some volcanic activity).

    Spoiler

And finally, the Lake District as more of a permanent dream destination since technically it's only an hour and half away from me and I could visit it any time I wanted but it's really pretty and quiet and I love pretty and quiet. :p
