Im gonna try and get the Nerkmid trophy the first of september. I know it's random but how many nerkmids do you guys recommend me to buy if I am aiming for the trophy? I've bought 30 so far. Dunno if it would be enough.

I am anxious to see what others have to say as well. I want to try for this trophy myself but I don't quite have the NP on hand to buy enough to give it a shot next month. You will have to post back here with your results next week.

I got a silver trophy (5th place) with 90 nerkmids. I wasn't intending to get a trophy more so than a profit (I got -2m profit).

Was that at the beginning of the month? How much was that approximately? 9-10 million?

    Yes.

90 x 63,000 NP (average at that time) = 5,670,000. Somewhere around that price.

Wow 90... I don't think I'll be trying in September then. I think it would be safer to get 100 or 120 before trying which means I'll have to save a few millions more.

I had a friend use up 150 and she still didn't get near the HST for it.

I usually think 100+ is a safer amount though

I got several NP amounts of 30k+ using Copper Nerkmids a while back. I used ~50, but I got onto the HST using only 10-15 Nerks. The rest was for science

Oh, and I chose all of the bottom options for like buttons and levers. SEVERAL 30k+ neopoint amounts, so if you do that you should be able to get HST on the first of the month with ~20 or so

The levers and buttons options are more than likely to be completely random. You probably just got lucky :p

    I don't think they're completely random.

For the first few, I was getting barely 500np, then I switched it up to all bottom and started getting lots. There was even a Nerkmid Comparison FAQ with charts and stuff on this very site, and the guy who did it also believed that the options are not completely random. The reason I chose Copper Nerkmids is because that FAQ found they had the best ratio of his sample size, which was ~50 of each Nerkmid

    Random, yes, but not completely

The largest individual amount of NP you get gives you points

If you get 30,000 NP one time, then 30,001 NP the next time, your highscore will be 30,001

    Random, yes, but not completely

Hmm I was wondering about the options. I always chose the first one on each menu and I get junk. Did four the other day, the mysterious golden or magical golden one... I dont remember truthfully and got junk, junk, nps, decent junk.
Maybe we should start a nerk log!
What nerk was used, each option chosen and what the prize was?
    It cant be completely random...

Ok, so I finally got unlazy and googled (that's all it took) the thread on here I was talking about

    http://www.neocodex....on-system-snes/

It's a smallish sample size, but his resulted (for Copper Nerkmid) jive with mine. Lots of high NP value outputs, and quite a few return Nerkmids. He didn't list what options he chose, but I believe (based on my results) that anyone can get a Nerkmid trophy on the first day with 50 Copper Nerkmids choosing all the bottom options.

The bottom option setting doesn't really spit out paint brushes though. I got 3 petpet paint brushes only, and 0 regular paint brushes. I think the fact that I only got petpet paint brushes lends itself to the theory that options DO matter, even if they are still random

It's a lot of luck I think, very difficult to gauge exactly how much you need. I would rather just try a few every month, rather than try a lot at one go.

I think it depends on luck and maybe on the 1st day of every month and try your chance :)

Oh wow. I must have been on a hiatus  :ohwell:  so I'm guessing the price deflated because it is now obtainable from the Cosmic Dome and from the Vending machine?
