Comment on old threads.

Guess it is.

Better be careful.

Thank you for the warning. Yes, gravedigging is indeed frowned upon.

It's not exactly against the rules, but if the thread is months old or older, and what you've said contributes nothing to the thread at all, then yes, your post may be counted as spam. Sometimes people will do this just to get the 10 posts needed to view the trading section, and if they constantly do it, they will start getting warned for spamming the forum.
Plus, gravedigging is sort of pointless. If the last post is from months ago or older, you can assume the discussion is over and thus there really isn't much of a reason to bring the thread back up.

Tl:dr: it's not explicitly agains the rules, but if it's done too many times, then it can be considered spam, which is against the rules.

Was it necessary to make a thread? You know there's a function on the homepage where you can make status updates, right?

On top of what was already said well, most of the time gravedigged threads are so outdated that bumping it up can mislead people as current and pertinent information.

Odds are,it's probably about something that isn't really relevant anymore. Like someone that just recently asked about a working ABer in a 2008 thread I believe it was... Just read around, and utilize the search bar at the top right of the page. If that isn't helpful, I'd say make a new thread, bring up the topic in a new status update on your profile, or possibly PM someone.

Our rule on thread bumping is actually very, very lax compared to other sites.
