Thanks for your kind thoughts on the baby, everyone. I really appreciate it.

 

Well, it looks like I too have been let go. I have sent instructions on how to run the NT to the Jumpstart staff, so it's possible they can continue it. I hope so! For me, running the Neopian Times was one of the best things I've ever gotten to do and I'm immeasurably grateful to have had the opportunity. You were awesome to work with, guys. You made Neopets more than just a game site. You gave it life and made it a community. I was constantly impressed by your cleverness, your fierce loyalty, your dedication. Thanks for making it fun to come to work every day!

Droplet is my favorite staff member (mainly because I can see her work clearly every week). She has a good eye for good literature, no matter how fanfic-y, redundantly cute, or commercial the pieces were.

JS legally couldn't lay her off while she was on maternity leave so they just waited until she came back.  Lame.

 

I doubt they're going to continue the NT.  They can't even handle Mystery Pic right now.

 

edit: people on Neopets are PISSED.  A bunch of them are canceling their premium memberships.

Everyone I've spoken to has had bad experiences with Rico.

She was also doing a great job, so it must not be the quality of work that's judged with these layoffs but the salary. No doubt JumpStart staff is working for less than the original staff members did.
