We DO need a president, regardless of gender, who is trustworthy and responsible enough to fulfill the things we need done in this country. Though, we also need a women of power somewhere. If a women (say Hillary) were to come in power, perhaps the issues we deal with in mind of gender and sex equality will become a little bit more tolerable. Hopefully the importance of gender equality and marriage equality will become more prominent this upcoming term.

    Yes for sure.

And I hope so too. Next I would really like atheism to be more accepted in the political realm of the US. Honestly, considering we are and have always been a secularist nation, you would think atheism would be more socially acceptable. But nope. I just feel like religion influences way too much here and promotes anti-intellectualism in a lot of ways. I recently saw a study that claimed atheists are trusted as much as rapists by religious people, I can't comment on it's reliability/validity. But still, what the fuck.

I wholeheartedly. Fuck considering sex discrimination when it comes to political office seating. I think it's a waste to focus heavily on past social injustices and stewing on remedying it without any actual change because that's all just lofty idealism with nothing to show for it when it comes to practicality but unnecessary shame that also hinders people who creates the change you (anyone) want and the country needs. I'd rather vote for someone who can pave the path to realizing that idealism than simply having a tattoo that says feminism and making everyone else feel bad about it.

We need a president that can stand up for women, finance reform, single payer health care (why the fuck are we overpaying corporations for our healthcare and burdening the poorest americans for a fucking dollar to the largest companies out there?), the people as a whole and not corporations. The only person who isn't bought and paid for, Bernie.

If it comes to Clinton, I will vote for her of course. She has the second best stance, but still she is beholden to the oil companies, and big banks. She is still outside 99% of Americans and out of touch with young voters. She has had a smear against her for years, and I understand that. But her history on switching sides often, leaves many uneasy. Even so, she is an okay option. Definitely stands for more than any of the other candidates (minus green party).

Well that study really sounds ridiculous. I personally do not have a belief, and have absolutely no problem with anybody WITH beliefs. To say that atheists aren't trusted, and in their words, put on the same trust level as rapists is horrifying. At that point, atheism needs to be put into a political stance more seriously like you said. The same goes for a lot of issues like abortions, women's issues, etc. I feel with our current government, they make as much excuses as they can to prevent things from happening that, in retrospect, don't even affect them like marriage equality, women's healthcare, and abortions. Our country is very good at making little things a huge deal. Atheism? Really? Bah.

Although I'm not fond of Hillary as much as either Bernie or Kasich, but it appears she might be the nominee and that's totally okay. Hillary is undeniably a liar, but I'd rather have her running the country than basically any of the currently-running Republicans. The republicans we have running this time around are all liars and have an awful set of beliefs that will definitely come into their political non-sense if they hold office. If it comes down to Trump and Hillary, I will no doubt vote for Hillary.

As an Atheist, I 100% agree. It's been a long life of explaining what an Atheist is to family and friends. Most people think of the biblical idea of Satanist when viewing Atheists.

We have freedom of religion, but not freedom from being hurt by the majority that believe in one religion. It's really sad.

It's not about focusing on past social injustices. It's about focusing and remedying current social injustices such as adverse impact, bias against female leadership, etc. But yes, I agree we do need someone who can pave the path to realizing our idea of a more ethical and just society. That person doesn't necessarily need to be female.. though I don't doubt there are people out there who are women and could do it (Elizabeth Warren anyone?) And I don't think the current female potential nominee is capable of doing that, considering she's a manipulative, lying, greedy candidate.

As I said, I'm not sure of the validity/reliability. Let me see if I can find it again. I'm not quite sure how they measured trustworthiness. But the claim was athiesm = less trustworthy.

Yeah. It's a cultural thing. It's shifting. Nones are quickly becoming the majority though here in the US.

On the topic of satanism, I do, even as an athiest, donate to the Satanic Temple because they do a lot of great work helping women use "religion" as their sincerely held belief to get out of ridiculous abortion restrictions. And they have the most awesome tenets ever.

I didn't mean to make it sound like I didn't believe you, but when I re-read what I said I can see that. I meant that the whole situation of the study itself is sad. I knew how atheism was viewed as a general in this country and how people on the internet made it look, but I didn't realize that people actually viewed atheism that way. It's nothing but a mindset and people treat it as though it's satanism or something other. Jeez.

Oh I believed you haha. I'm sorry you thought that I didn't believe you. I figured it would be easier to understand the ridiculousness if you saw the numbers yourself. I agree. It's fucking ridiculous. It's a stupid reason to distrust someone. But I do understand why people distrust atheism. They've been taught by their parents, their pastors and priests not to trust atheists, hell even our government openly endorses Christianity through our money, our pledge and the various religious things in government buildings, proceedings, etc. Not to mention, the strange myth that Hitler was atheist, etc. Atheism has been tied to communism, socialism and democratic socialism, which the right is super afraid of anyway. It's ignorance and tribalism pretty much.

You're 110% right. Everything that's been taught in our current age reflects some kind of faith and the out-right "wrongness" of no faith at all. As a child, I'd been forced to go to Church and Sunday School several times a month despite my clear disbelief in religion. Though my family is religious, they don't force it down our throats (luckily.) On the other-hand, my babysitters did. Both my brother and I have no faith and were forced to Church and Sunday School by our babysitters because they were religious. I had no problem with it originally because it wasn't all that bad, but eventually they scalded us when we didn't "learn" certain things while there and "didn't believe in the word of God." Religious families are almost forcing their children on their faith and then abandoning these children if they go against it. More and more we see kids coming out to their gender and/or their sexuality to their religious family and being shunned and kicked-out because of it. I hope that in the near future, our new figures can halt this trend. It's horrible for kids to be forced upon this kind of thing and to pit everything against them when they're not to your faith is out-right depressing.

Because of this #WhichHillary trended worldwide all day yesterday which exposed the many flip flops and inconsistencies in Hillary's political career. Idk why people always want to bash BLM when they're constantly starting conversations that wouldn't be addressed otherwise. Why hasn't her super predator comments been addressed at any debate or town hall thus far? Why hasn't her legacy of "criminal justice reform" that basically put billions of dollars into the pockets of private prison companies been brought up until now? (Outside of the Internet since the articles have been out for a long time people are just finally paying attention to them). She was accepting donations from the CCA up until October and then she ~had another change of heart~ and stopped taking the donations after the first time BLM called her out on it.

No you're right, BLM is definitely the first organisation/group of people to criticise a leading presidential candidate. Definitely used decorum and class to enshrine their articualtion so well.

That's one of the differences between Bernie and Hillary. She kicks out a girl who just wanted to show her support for BLM and ask Hillary about her horrible "bring them to heel" comment. That girl just wanted to know what Hillary was thinking at that time, why she said what she said, and how she thinks now. She wanted to voice her concerns to a candidate and see what that candidate would do about them. She wasn't trying to start a riot or anything, and yet people jeered at her and Hillary had her thrown out by the secret service. (When she also paid $500 to be there, mind you). When BLM interrupted Bernie, he stood back, gave them the microphone and let them speak about their concerns and their movement. Bernie actually cares about what the people have to say and their concerns. Hillary throws people who are trying to speak their concerns to her out on their butts.

This has nothing to do with what I was talking about before, but at the last republican debate where everyone was attacking Trump, poor Ben Carson stood there and after a while asked "Can someone attack me please?" because he was being completely ignored. Based on that and the poll numbers, to me it looks like if someone was going to drop out, he'd be next.

I wholeheartedly hope the people who instigated the crime are charged with everything that was being called for against the victims (when we were told to believe they were the attackers) plus obstruction of justice and defamation of character. Saying BLM is the only group that gets conversations going is silly. So does Donald Trump, but he is an ass and an idiot and is always usually? on the wrong side of the conversation.

Would have been great to win Mass. Posted this on my fb last night after I donated to his campaign again:
Bernie Sanders has cultivated a desire for positive change among my contemporaries, a number of whom were not invested in politics before this election cycle, with his passion, honesty, and progressive ideals. It's important, with Super Tuesday coming to a close, to keep this momentum going. If you feel strongly in the message that he's conveying, please consider donating your time and/or money to support OUR campaign, and, most importantly, remember to vote! #FeelTheBern

It would have. But it's not as huge a loss as media is portraying it, especially since he only lost by like 1-2 points. I think we still got this for sure.
