Honestly I never understood that American thing of brushing your teeth as soon as you get out of bed, and then proceed to eat + drink coffee and then go out without brushing them again. Wouldn't make more sense to brush after eating, before getting out of the house?

Or is that one of those things that only happen in the movies/tv shows?

Personally, I can't even think about leaving my house without brushing my teeth right before.

Probably, but the thought of brushing right after I eat skeeves me out.

I only brush after eating (what if there's food in my teeth?!), but I know people who brush before and after eating. I hate brushing my teeth before eating, because it makes food taste different, but a bad different. Like minty.

New question: do you guys clean your tongue?

I never do that too, specially after acid foods because it fuck up the dentin (or whatever it's called), that's why I leave the brushing chore for the moment right before leaving the house.

I do. The orange juice I drink always makes me salivate a lot for some reason, and that mixed with thejuice itself leaves a gross layer of saliva and juice on my tongue :p

I don't clean my tongue. I just drink lots of water and it's been going well for me.

Cleaning your tongue might help with morning breath problems, to those who have it.

Coconut oil it's awesome for the same purpose, as well to cure/prevent mouth infections. Better than any mouthwash, to be honest.

    1. How many showers you take a day?
      1. Maybe 2 over the Summer or if I happen to work out after I've already showered
    2. How often do you brush your teeth? Do you brush them at work/school?
Twice a day. I live at school so ... yes
    3. Do you eat pizza with fork and knife or barehanded?
In public/at a restaurant, with a fork and knife. Otherwise, barehanded
    4. What about hamburgers? Do you hold it with a napkin or with your bare hands?
      Don't eat hamburgers.
    5. How often do you change your underwear?
      Every day.
    6. How often do you change your body towel?
      Once a week

    Yes.

I need to get back into the habit of oil pulling or w/e the term is for that haha

    1. How many showers you take a day? I don't always shower every day... Depends on what I've been doing, but no more than once a day, unless I get super sweaty and gross after showering, which shouldn't happen because I typically shower at night.
    2. How often do you brush your teeth? Do you brush them at work/school? I just brush in the morning (unless I'm rushing) and at night, sometimes right before a date also hahaha
    3. Do you eat pizza with fork and knife or barehanded? Barehanded. da fuq?
    4. What about hamburgers? Do you hold it with a napkin or with your bare hands? Bare hands
    5. How often do you change your underwear? Errrday
    6. How often do you change your body towel? Probably like once every 3-4 showers?

My shower doesn't work, so I only bother drawing a bath once a day

Once or twice, but never at work

Bare handed if it's not a sloppy kind of pizza and I'm in the US. I do what the locals do if I'm traveling.

Pretty much the same answer as for the pizza.

Daily, or more often if I get blood on them > >

Whenever I notice an odor *shrug* I have three towels, and they're all hanging up all the time, and I just toss the one(s) that have a smell into the laundry. I never tried to keep track of how long that takes.

    1. Averaging a little less than 1 shower a day. I sometimes skip a weekenday if I had a light sit around day. I sometimes shower twice if I didn't shower the night before, but showered the next morning, and then showered that night to get back on regular schedule. I rarely have my PT schedule screwed up so that I shower twice in a day, but it's happened. Especially if I end up running on a day that I do some sort of outdoor muddy volunteering, like I will this sat.
    2.     Brushing teeth about once a week with paste, once without, and lazily scraping the rest of the days. I floss more than I brush, and console myself that my love of crunchy fruits and veggies is brushing enough. I do have brush and paste at school, in case I eat/drink something weird.
    3.     Pizza barehanded.
    4.     Hamburgers barehanded.
    5.     Changing undies once a day, on average (pt or hot sweaty work increases turnover rate, as does menses on occasion.)
    6.     Body towel washed once a week with the sheets.

for the first time i agree with you. Cleaning your tongue help you to prevent Halitosis, protect from microrganism and gives you a fresh breath (but you cant taste very well all foods for a while)

I read a post on BuzzFeed BR where they asked some questions to workers from another countries (mostly the US), and some of them were about hygiene. And I wanna know about you.

    1. How many showers you take a day?
    2. How often do you brush your teeth? Do you brush them at work/school?
    3. Do you eat pizza with fork and knife or barehanded?
    4. What about hamburgers? Do you hold it with a napkin or with your bare hands?
    5. How often do you change your underwear?
    6. How often do you change your body towel?

    1. At most 1 a day, I have taken two but it kills me. Dry skin. It burns.

    2. Twice a day usually. I've washed them mid day if I can and I feel disgusting in the oral region.

    3.  I throw down, flip it and reverse it.

    4. Walking around in the field, happily alive.

    5. I'd have to wear underwear to answer this question.

    6. I air dry. (lolz like every 2 showers.)

New question: do you guys clean your tongue?

Occasionally, just found out a couple of years ago that the tongue should also be cleaned along with the teeth. Most bad breath comes from the tongue itself.

Look at your tongue in the mirror and if there are loads of white stuff on it, better start cleaning them off. A perfect pink tongue is ideal :)

Always check the back of your tongue *not the under-side silly haha* where this is the part that will mostly accumulated with the white thingy due to your brushing that never have reached there.

My dentist wanted me to brush my tongue once, but that makes me gag. Or do you clean your tongue differently?

Whoa... i just read this thread and realized people don't brush their tongue?!?!?!?!?!?!

    I'm freaked out lol.

I was always taught you brush your tongue with your tooth brush and I brush mine so far back to where my gag reflex should start lol.

    It's my fav part.

    omg hahaha

I feel like my dentist just taught me, or my parents or school dental videos taught me to brush differently.

I used to also brush my cheeks and always use mouthwash incessantly.

We have bad teeth in my family, like soft enamel is an issue and I never used to rinse my mouth after using my inhaler like I was supposed to so I was real cray about weird feelings.

My dentist wanted me to brush my tongue once, but that makes me gag. Or do you clean your tongue differently?

I brush it like I do with teeth. Some brushes have a soft cleaning area at the back of the bristles (?) that help you not feel the gag reflex so much, but imo it's not as effective. After a while you get used to it and you learn how to control it.

I clean my tongue every time I brush my teeth. Just an advice, don't spit the oil in the sink because it will solidify and fuck the drain tubes. Spit it to a trash can!

Exhaling all the air from my lungs seem to help. But my sister has to do the opposite. Maybe try those to see if it helps?
