I don't get why people want to make money stealing stuff from active players. If the last handful of players quit the site, to whom their asses are going to sell shit?

 

The public forums which were most active with regards to this, actually changed their trade rules to ban selling actives and etc.

 

Then of course, they also released a program to scan accounts and load them into one's own database. So, y'know I dunnoo...

I don't know if they "did it" i.e. caused this or something. But TNT is certainly quite directly blaming scanning programs like that for the captcha, and it iss true that their account scanner program was indeed released quite recently so ehh.

 

And yeah, wouldn't be surprised if the real trading rules on the ground were "if you can get away with it anything goes" or something. Just judging by the culture there I suppoose.

 

And looll @Swarley . Wai I am IP banned I live in Singapore. It must be...your fault. Too many awesome Brazilians / Portugese-using peoples in this plaace~ ;P

TNT has occasionally given stuff as an apology, but never for an event, iirc. I think the very best you can hope for is an extra day, and that's unlikely

 

On the bright side, today's DD is super easy if you read a level guide.

What do you mean? I assume you were thinking of selling the accounts? Or were you just going to self freeze them? If you're going to sell an account anyway, may as well increase the price for the NC.

I'd be kind of surprised if they did that, because it might actually address AB, which they seem to have been intentionally ignoring for years.

The AB captcha is pretty outdated, if they update that too it'll mess up our cheating habits for a long time. I guess.

I'm sure it wouldn't take much. Neo is certainly not the first site that I've cheated on, and not the first to institute a CAPTcha.  To be fair though, you have to start questioning value/reward though, as for the most part this is virtual currency.

Yeah, I've been wondering why they use such an ineffectual captcha system, and now that they've started using reCAPTCHA on other areas, there's really no reason to stick with it for shops.

 

I'm sure it wouldn't take much. Neo is certainly not the first site that I've cheated on, and not the first to institute a CAPTcha.  To be fair though, you have to start questioning value/reward though, as for the most part this is virtual currency.

Value/reward to the programmers. I've really only cheated on beermoney sites. I'm not sure of the real money marketplace value of Neopian scripts, though I'm sure there is one. Just not something I ever got into. Granted, I may soon, just for the value of honing my own skills, but doubtful.

True. As I said in a different thread, I'm not sure to be mad at Viacom for leaving Jumpstart with a mess, or with Jumpstart for not thriving. I'm more apt to be pissed at Jumpstart though. I can only imagine what they came into. 

Not to say Jumpstart couldn't be doing better, because they could be, but to have a decently functioning site after all these years, existing on the essentially the same code(frontface) that happened post Customization is astonishing. I'm not sure whether to applaud them for continuing to try to chastise them for cop-outs.

Aside: Am I still the only Nerd who would love to volunteer some time to Neopets? Cheater or not, that stupid site has given me more than a a decade of enjoyment and I want to keep it.

It would still be work to update like, all programs of course. Even if they just added captcha to logins only. Which, actually is what they should do if you think about it in their shoes huh.

True. As a semi-legit player, captchas are really just going to irritate my daily life. They aren't going to stop the cheating that I do. Granted, I don't AB or carry shells. My cheating is, mild to say the least. I certainly don't hope that they alienate the legit playerbase with this change.

 

Speaking of which, the captchas will be on, what, user lookups? I see that, maybe, once per month if I'm feeling especially Neopian. XD
