Okay, I had a really eventful day. I don't think it counts as life saving, but it was a really good deed nonetheless. Now that it's over and he's okay, I thought I would make a thread asking if you guys have ever done something like this.
I'll tell you what happened today if you're interested:
I was outside with a two friends because one of them had just returned from a two week trip home. We noticed this guy acting drunk outside of the gate. One of my friends recognised him from class and was asking him if he was okay. He wasn't responding at all and after a while went and laid down on this ledge in front of the guard station.
So we went around to get him inside because he lives in the building. Obviously you can't leave him out there in case cops come by (he wants to be a lawyer and apparently can't have things on his record or he can't be one) or he gets robbed. My friend takes his legs to try and get him to stand up thinking that he'll just sit up and be on his feet. Nope. He falls and thankfully my other friend grabs him and lowers him down. I got my arms under his and helped get him to his feet because they were having trouble.
We go around and get him inside which was a struggle because he can't walk at all. Both of my friends were on either side of him trying to walk him around the corner to the other street. When we get there, we realise he doesn't have his key so we just set him on the couch. We leave for maybe five minutes and he's still there. It looks like he's trying to sleep or something, but every time we ask him questions he just stares at us or starts to nod off. We were just going to leave him there to sleep it off but... I noticed what I thought to be a bump on the back of his head that could explain why he was acting this way.
So my other friend takes his phone and calls his girlfriend. Turns out he's diabetic and may be going into shock. She tells us to get him something sugary and to call the ambulance. I was texting my mom as well and she was saying he needs sugar, he could be in shock and could die. So we get him the only thing around which is red bull (thankfully super sugary) and call the ambulance.
He starts coming around once the ambulance gets there and he's more aware but he is so confused (imagine waking up and just seeing paramedics and two people you don't know). They take his blood sugar and get him something to eat. He's finally talking and can stand up/walk. He tells us that he can't remember a thing. He just remembers waking up, eating something, deciding to walk to Tesco, and nothing else. He doesn't remember how he got on the other side of the building where the gate is never open, doesn't remember us helping him. doesn't know how he got back into the building.
They also inspected the bump and it was just his head. So I'm thankful that I noticed the nonexistent bump otherwise we would have just left him there and it could have been so much worse. I'm also thankful my friend called his girlfriend otherwise we wouldn't have known he was diabetic. My mom was also saying that diabetic shock could come off as someone acting drunk as well so it makes sense.
He's all good now though. The medics told us he needs to eat something within another 20 mins or he'll start to dip again, and my friend that knows him took him to Tesco. All good. Could have been so much worse. Definitely has a guardian angel that made me think a red area on his head was a bump lol. So many things could have gone differently and I'm just glad all of the pieces fell into place for him.
THAT'S ENOUGH FOR TODAY. Too eventful. That and my friend had only been back in London for three hours so... welcome back?
Have you ever done something that could potentially save someone's life or done a good deed that helped someone in a big way?
