Do you feel like you're more or less privileged after moving to the US?

Do you feel like you're more or less privileged after moving to the US?

That's a tough question. In all honesty, I'd say less privileged. Many might see a move from the UK to the US as a lateral move, but in actuality, clear differences are visible, especially in a state like Texas, and more so in a conservative area like we're in now.

  • Nationalised healthcare & subsidised prescriptions vs exorbitant insurance and prescription costs
  • Significantly higher violent crime rate
  • Higher disdain (at least locally) for immigrants, people of color and other cultures and religions, or no religion

That said, a lot of the questions in the quiz are more personal than environmental or societal factors.

I dunno, I don't really think the whole 'privilege' thing is as big of a deal as people make it. I just like taking quizzes.

I mean, this could mostly have been compressed (for Americans) into:

1) Are you white?

2) Are you straight?

3) Are you Christian?

4) Are you male?

Done and dusted.

Me:

1) Debatable

2) Debatable

3) Debatable

4) Ye--Debatable because I don't want to rile up the self-granted honorary women's studies degree holders.

I take that as validation for my personal growth.

And why does every white girl say Yikes? You. Emily. Coops.

I think you're confusing how consistently cringy you are with white girl speech patterns.

Edit: Idk how to grammar

51 points out of 100 for me.

I'm Jewish, a woman, and have been poor. I was actually expecting less points.

Forgot 'above the poverty line' which is where I think they get most of my oppression score from.

Yeah, I'm surprised you have that much too.
