About IRC:
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It is one of the oldest, and most widly used forms of chat on the internet.
In order to connect to an IRC server, you must have an IRC client. The most popular IRC client for windows is mIRC. You can download it here: http://www.mirc.com.
Once you join the server, you will have to register your name (on IRC your name is your "nick"). Make sure your nick is set to your codex name (to avoid confusion). After you are using your desired nick you will have to register it so that nobody else can use it.
In order to register you nick... type in the following command in mIRC:
/msg nickserv register <passwordhere> <emailhere> (Don't Include the "<>")For security reasons... please do not use your neocodex password as your nickserv password.
Every ti'me you connect to the IRC server again, you will have to type the following:
/msg nickserv identify <passwordhere> (Don't Include the "<>")This is to verify that you 'own' this nick.
Your position (if you have one) will be automaticly given to you when you join the channel after you have been authenticated with nickserv.
I'm sure more tutorials using various irc clients will be written in the near future... Enjoy guys
Thanks to all who brought this up, you aroused the forums interest in IRC again.
