Do any of you believe those ancient arts where they say they can manipulate ur chi/ki/energy just by their hands? :o
Like my teacher said that she was a reiki master and that she could heal most people by giving them energy through her hands.I've known her briefly but i think she is one of those people who dont waste time or believes non-evidential stuff as she isnt very religious and has said some blasphemous things but she is in a catholic school. We had some time to ask her about it and when she asked how she became one,she said that she had 'special' training from a reiki master but when she described her training,it seemed too short to gain that much power. They way she explained the experiences sounded very real but the 'how did it work' question was answered by the 'i just cant explain it' common answer.
it sounded really interesting but i am not really a believer of those ancient magic arts stuff and i don't know if i shud try it because i would have to pay.
So Discuss whether you think those ancient healing arts are real or just bs.

I think that they may use some herbs in addition that help, or that the act itself acts as some sort of placebo that brings people out of bad conditions because they think it's real. It has effects from the little I've seen about it, but I think it's one of those reasons and not actual energy coming out of their hands or something.

ya i asked if they used any tools, oils, or herbs to help them but she said no.also i did sum research on reiki and it says that they just use their hands to channel the energy.since it is not scientifically proven i really think its just mind tricks, but then with what the experiences she said and her credability, a part of me wants to believe in it

What's the question again? It seems that this question can be asked about the medicine or techniques that Ancient healers used or through your post, something about energy. I don't believe that energy blasphemy. I do believe in the herbs and techniques that they use. Many herbs have been scientifically proven that they work but come with dangers.

in a sense, it can be real. its around us, but can we manipulate it? no. humans are too foolish to use it.

I've only had it done once on me and well... umm... failed miserably :p

This guy who was driving me to the airport and I was getting deathly ill from Ukrainian water started massaging pressure points on my hands. I got back into the car and got the the airport... got out... fall down on my knees and puked my guts out :p

I just think it's all in the mind, really.

Mind over Matter. The 'arts' are probally real but few people can use them since who devotes there life to learning stuff like this? Nearly no-one so if it does 'exist' then nearly no-one will learn it.

I think it works if you want it to work...It's all psychological. So if that means it actually works or not I don't know!

Saying that, my dad was incredibly sceptical of all this sort of healing. He suffered hugely for about 15 years from Multiple Sclerosis. Now, without having to go into it hugely, there is very little that can be done for MS besides painkillers. A neighbour asked him if he'd ever thought of more "traditional" methods and my dad scoffed.

Couple of weeks later, he reluctantly had a few therapies tried including Reiki and Crystal therapy. He then went a month pain-free, something that hadn't happened it in all the time he'd had the disease. Now...he desperately wanted that pain to be gone so maybe that's why...but hey, maybe it did actually work.

Don't they say that cancer sufferers with positive mindsets are the ones most likely to survive? I think attitude plays a huge part in all treatments.

Apparantly amethyst is good for headaches and I'll swear the frequency of migraines has gone down hugely since I've had a piece sat on my bedside cabinet... I've had them for years almost every week or so. Since I put the amethyst there I've had them every few months. It's probably just a coincidence but meh. Gives me a little faith.

ya my dad has told me something like that if you want something that you eat or something to work it'll work better than if you dont want it to work.example was eatin vegetables(i like salads and vegetables and shit, just not the way she makes em).my dad said if i didnt mentally want to eat the vegetables, the vitamins and shit in it wouldnt effect me as good as if i was happy to eat the vegetables.also wit ur amethyst thing, i heard a guy kept rubbin his joints wit copper and his arthritis got healed....mind or medical?who knows:O

Hm .... I would guess it's possible with the help of natural herbs and stuff ....

When I wasn't feel well , my dad used to tell me if I put a piece of chocolate
under my tounge and just let it melt there , the pain would go away.
-Mind over matter , is what I think.

But I don't think it's possible ... Why don't you ask your teacher
to try and heal a cut on your knee or something?

Some aspects of un-traditional medical methods in healing are believable to me.. like acupuncture if you consider that one.. But massaging your hand with some special oil and expecting to heal something just sounds like mambo jambo to me :p

PS. Dude you gotta start spacing after your periods @_@

Well...

I don't believe in Ancient Healing Arts involving "Magic" or "Witchcraft" (it's Sarcasm, alright?)

But as Freek mentioned, I do believe in Acupuncture and Physical healing, Hot Spring Baths and whatnot.

Yeah, that's how i look at it in a way. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the existence of Chi via if the mind believes. too many near death expiriences have been different. but its more about the will to feel better or feel more at ease in reiki. If you don't want it work, it doesn't have to.

It would be really cool if people could be healed just by manipulation of the hands.. I know some massages can relax the body by hitting certain pressures points..
