Hello everyone,

From what the host told me, the random board errors that some of you were seeing was because of too many MySQL connections to the server database (the board is fetching too much information about users, etc..) or simply just too many queries being ran at once.

Because of this, I have put both the tutorial count and the avatar plates on an automatic cache. That means that the # of tutorials you have made (which is indicated on the left) as well as the donation avatar plates on the left will only be updated once a day at 3:15 AM PST automatically by the board.

So if you are wondering why you made 5 tutorials and it only shows 4 on the side, please wait until the next day for the counts to synchronize. Same goes for the avatar plates, you will have to wait a day for the plates to show, or you can nicely ask an administrator to resynchronize them if you want it to show right away. :p

This will cut down two sql queries per post, so on a 20-post page, that's a total of 40 queries (information fetches) cut down. Now there is only 9 or so queries per page instead of 40 (since everything is done through the cache now). :p

Efficiency is King.

The problem arose from my sloppy coding in the first place. :p So yes.. efficiency!

Only the result of my sloppy coding in the first place. :p

Oh, but still, you solved the problem! In a timely manner, to boot. =P

The board may even run a bit faster because of it. :D It was quite a significant fix to be honest.... it must have been a strain on the database. :p

Great job SL :) I have no idea how difficult going from 40 to 9 is but it sounds impressive!

i never experienced this before, i am just glad that u fixed it for other people, like u usually do. :) good job, and thanx.

i know some forums that would just leave this problem alone, but codex is different and cooler. :)

EDIT: What exactly is an avatar plate? is it the text beneath the avatar?

I meant the donation plate (the thing you get if you donate to Neocodex). :p
