My theory is that most people disapprove of drugs, and random drug topics, but a lot of the people that do disapprove are afraid to open up about it and be the targets of criticism from the few that do support it.

So, the poll is simple enough. You approve of drug discussion or you don't. Drug discussion being things like the drugs you like to do, things that happen to you while doing drugs, and so on.

Note that this has nothing to do with the rules of NeoCodex, and you aren't deciding anything with your vote. It's just your opinion :)

Im going to go with no. Why?
Where to start? This is a child friendly site, not a drug related site. It's a very inapropriate topic to discuss with children viewing it.
Not everyone is at the same maturity level. I'm the second youngest codexian, and I couldn't care less about drug realted forums, however, I still think they are immature, silly, and usless. Nobody cares about how you enjoy harming yourself. It's your bussiness. Not ours.

edit, edit .. ugh my points sucked. I really don't feel like re-wording my last post .. so .. Ill post it. Bite me. :p

By making a thread based on which drugs you prefer to get wasted on best isn't exactly saying they're bad.
The thread was idiotic, silly, inapropriate, and usuless. What will you gain from it? Letting all of codex know how you like to get wasted? Wow. News flash, dearest, nobody cares. Your thread was silly, because getting wasted on something illegal is a matter you should keep to yourself, keep it personal, not generally post it. What will you gain from it? Making people think you're an immature, underaged druggie? Obviously you're missing a great factor. There are children on this forum. It's a child friend forum, and having topics about how people like to hurt themselves by getting wasted on illegal things is not exactly child friendly. If they wanted to go on a drug related site, they would have. this site is supposed to be clean. It's disgusting how you're not accepting the fact that not everybody on this forum are like you or of an older generation. Me, being the second youngest person here, 12, I know all about drugs, what they do, where to get them, etc, and I still couldn't care less how you like to get wasted. If everybody in here made a thread on how they hurt themselves on purpose, there would be a alot of freakin threads.
Please, Cody, don't eat me, I know that drugs won't harm you if you take the right amount, dont get addictive, etc, but generally people don't know how much that is. So please, I several of your posts, no need to jump on me. tongue.gif
Anyways. Seriously. Then you quote everyone in a horrible fashion and send negativity to them. I didn't mean anything negative. You asked why they closed it. I answered. I tried to be polite and nice, and on an extremely serious note, Iam very sorry if I implied anything negative, offensive or if I hurt you in any way. If so, tell me, and I'll apologies, no need to say something negative.
So seriously. Keep your drugs your bussiness, because it sure as freaking hell isn't ours. Your thread was immature and silly. Nobody cares how you enjoy getting high.
Thanks if you actually made it through this post.

I shall make a bit of a prediction for the poll. I expect it to be light to heavy 'Yes' in the short term because all of the pro-drug people were drawn to that topic just now, and are right here to vote.

There should be an uptrend in the 'No' votes when the majority starts to see the topic, however :)

And if there's not, well, I suppose I'll just keep quiet about it.

I say it should be allowed. Some people choose to hate drug users and like that, but as said before, read what you want, if you dont wanna read a topic, then dont.

I will not continue a debate in this subject as the problems are so blatently obvious. Ignorance and brainwashing.

I support the First Amendment, thus I wish to translate it over to NeoCodex, but I respect the concept that NeoCodex can ban discussion of that. So, yes, I support it. I will not type anymore -- it'll simply be faced with more media-minded rhetoric; I'll just say that your lack of care to study what you know so little about should not hinder those who wish to discuss it.

I'll tell you how everyone became brainwashed like this. Media control. Read some Chomsky.

I approve of freedom of speech.. I may not want to hear about your day or see your youtube movie.. but I don't tell you you can't post about it.

    I approve.

Sure theres freedom of speech but that doesnt mean in certain places it cant be restricted as per what Hydro wants. It is his site after all. Cara's point is also true, this place isnt necessarily all full of mature kids/adults. I'm for no. (You can still post in priv/retired where people are proven to be that mature type but for the general public, I'm voting for no.)

Drug related forums can help many people out Cara :) . Users aren't automatically foolish and many are well learned in aspects of drugs. I would prefer that if someone was set on trying drugs, they have a place to go, to be informed. That way the chance of harming themselves is reduced.

Me? I will think about the matter. I won't ever do drugs, just because thats me. I won't condemn people for doing it though, I just hope they fully understand potential mishaps.

The forum was once directed at a younger audience, however many of us have grown up and I am going to guess our average audience is around 15-17 years old. Most of us have grown past neopets. There are young people on the site still. However if they are going to persuaded into getting into drugs based on the stories and talk of someone online, its a good possibility they would have done it anyway.

You assume I don't know anything about them... and you're telling me ignorance is bliss? :) All people that do drugs and enjoy supporting them are always so unwilling to believe that anyone that actually has done drugs or knows anything about them could not like them. It just can't penetrate their minds that in fact, people that do indeed know about drugs and have done drugs don't approve of them.

If it makes the pro-drug people comfortable to continue thinking that, go for it :) But making such assumptions is never the way to win an argument or prove your point, because often times, the assumption is wrong.

Read if you want to know my opinion, I know it's kind of long. I voted Yes.

read what you want, if you dont wanna read a topic, then dont.

Very true. If you see a drug topic, and you don't like it, don't read it. Drug topics are very rarely posted here, and when they are, they are very rarely about what kinds you do or if you do them at all. Personally, I don't care, but I don't have that option in the poll, but I don't mind them. I think people can say what they want, and it isn't a rule, so I say let them do it. I'll skip the topic if I don't want to read it. Never have I, personally, seen on Neocodex, a topic supporting drugs that tries to get people to do them.

As for younger people, well, it's not always a bad influence, some of the discussion is agbout the negative's of drugs. Also, it dpeneds on their common sense. Honestly, there aren't as many people that run out and do things because someone on a website does it as you think. They probably more affected by influence off the internet.

I know they can help many induviduals out, but it's not the place to. There's a younger audience then most people realise, here. For example, what if I were immature and didn't like how people were making topics about drugs, how they use them, which they prefer, etc? Well then I'll leave. However, it's not the case for me, so meh, but drugs are an extremly harmful thing, pyke. I'm absolutly all for threads based on people looking for help with drug problems, wanting to learn about them and their harmful affects, etc, however, the majority of Codex will most likely not make these threads.
Threads about which drugs are better, which you prefer, how you get them, how expensive or cheap they are, etc, are not appropriate topics for younger children to read. Not everyone is at the same maturity level. If you like discussing dugs, then for Chsists sake, do it in another forum, where it's not child friendly, where it's mainly for an older audience. It's silly to have those threads. Mainly because nobody educated cares about how people are hurting themselves. It's their bussiness.

What have you done that makes you well-knowledged?

Once again, you prove my point. You say that I lead you to believe I'm ignorant, but all you have to base that on is the fact that I disapprove of drugs. Which is exactly what I just said... You refuse to believe that anyone who disapproves can be anything but ignorant. I'm quite sure that if a genius scholar of drugs marched into this forum right now and disapproved, you'd all call him ignorant for it.

The law, society, practically everything supports my point. Yet why am I the one that you are insisting proves it? Look around. It's you that should be the one trying to convince that time-tested wisdom and theory, and society and its laws itself, are incorrect.

And telling you what I have done serves no purpose. Infamous tried the same thing in the other topic. Do you not believe someone is a war veteran if they don't tell you the play-by-play on how they shot an enemy in the face?

Believe me or don't, I don't really care, but you aren't really helping your own case by just passing it off as ignorant and not believing me when I say I've done it. What you're doing is showing that you lack any other good arguments, so you have to attack my credibility.

I'm afraid my credibility is not the issue here, my friend :) It's drugs.

Um... I don't enjoy supporting them or not, I don't even support them. I just think it's wrong to take away freedom of speech. You haven't shown you know about drugs, and it CAN penetrate their minds. You class drug users as a different type of being. They're just people, with different preferences.

actually.. I never said you never did drugs.. I never said anythign taht people who do wouldn't say that..

I know, I was replying to what trixx said.

I know plenty of people who've tried a drug or two.. decided they didn't want to bother with them.. and didn't.

I never judged you on that fact..

I know you didn't, and I appreciate it.

and although I very rarely pull the "I know more than you do on this subject" card.. I'm going to have to pull it now.

granted, you know more about c++ than me.. I know more about psychopharmacology than you... it's just the way things go.. ya know?

no person is a better person because they do or don't do drugs.. it's a personal descision that I've never forced upon someone.. live and let die as I've always said..

You can continue to believe that if you like, but I personally don't feel it's an issue of psychopharmacology, rather of human behavior and society.

    My, I wanted to keep arguments out of this topic but that hasn't gone so well, has it ;_;

So you know, I did read you post. I read every word of every post i nthis thread. The whole children thing is based on free will, however different it may be for a younger user. Only, there's health and drug awareness classes, parents, ect. so they don't need to bother with it if they are smart. Read my posts, you'll see my opnions.
