Hello,

In light of the decreased activity on the board, posting requirements to gain Member rank have been increased from 1 post to 5 posts in an effort to divert activity to the board. This means that you cannot download any of our programs until you have made 5 board posts (it used to be 1).

As a result, about 1,311 'Member' accounts have been downgraded to 'New Member' because they have made less than 5 posts.

This change is only temporary and will be adjusted once more when activity increases, as Neocodex has always believed in offering programs to those who readily need them. You will find that 5 posts as a requirement is not much to ask, as other sites usually expect a lot more commitment in order to get access to downloads.

NeoCodex still went up 2 places on big-boards.com tongue.gif

I hope this doesn't mean 5 posts of spam instead of 1. x_x

Also, there is the whole 'spam' issue associated with this. If an excessive amount of spamming occurs, all that will result is that the posts will be removed and the user will have to make decent posts before downloading.

If the posts are clearly spam, then we will require them to make decent posts, or they will risk not being able to download. tongue.gif

Sounds good. There haven't been many good topics to post in lately, so not many new members are posting. :\

Personally i think it should be 10 decent posts before the member rank is apllied but thats just my opinion. But this wou;d stop members posting a welcome topic then just download programs. Good work shadowlink.

I think so too, but it's a good idea to work up gradually (to make sure the idea works first of all). tongue.gif

In my opinion, there's no excuse for this lack of activity since program usage is really really high right now (over 430 uses in the last 24 hours) compared to the 300 or so I saw in September. dry.gif I figure some of that can be sacrificed to get some posts on the board.

Most of them are.. if you try Trix's first program (Daily Doer,) it would still work. If you try FireBird's Auto Pricer, you will get a Runtime error.

They should get fixed by the author.... or we should do another downloads cleanup. unsure.gif We can't have programs that don't work in our downloads system. That's just unacceptable service.... we want programmers and members to hold the opinion that Neocodex is home to the best programs of its type. tongue.gif

And that says something about the quality of some of our programs, doesn't it? 1we8.gif

I do believe we're going to have to take a look at these programs again. tongue.gif

I'm quite sure all of mine still work becuase i fix and re-release it everytime someone reports an error that i can fix.

Plus shadowlink working up is a good idea and i think you should get it to 10 posts then leave it that way. It would make codex more active i reckon.

I still think we should implement my idea of decreasing a members post count by 2 for every message of spam which they do. devil.gif So if their first message is spam, they'll go down to -1 posts. tongue.gif
