That is the word of the day! Mark it well. It's quite rampant on our boards.

Seriously though people, over the past few days, there has been a lot of fighting over a lot of nothing. This isn't what the site should be like. God it's Christmas break, most of you don't even have a reason to be so moody. The simplest things are setting people off and it's creating much animosity amongst our members. We don't need the drama in order to keep going, it is totally unnecessary.

If you see someone spamming, just get out of the topic. There isn't really a need to go into the topic and be a total dickhead is there? No. If the topics not what you want to read, get out of it and make the topic you want to read. It is as simple as that!

Anyways, just saying I'm really disappointed in the attitude I have seen lately and I'm certainly not the only one who feels this way. Gotta run now though, all of you have a great day

Pft, don't say goodbye on msn then tongue.gif

Anyways, yes some topics may get off the original point of the post but if it's something people can actually talk about I don't see why people complain, if they don't want to see it they don't need to look at it. 1we8.gif

I'm sorry, it just seems that as time goes on, the topics I want to read are disappearing and it's full of spam and fighting about rediculous shit.

I try not to be a dickhead, but it's genetic.. tongue.gif

I just want codex to be what it used to be.

The fact is, we can't make codex to be what it used to be. Different people come, people go. New influxes of ideas come in and naturally, even though we don't want to admit it, we change too. We just need to grow with the "game" and adapt because quite frankly, we can't afford to get stuck in the past.

You're right. I've seen this place change a lot in the last three years.... when the December '04 folk came, things changed. When the July 2005 folk came, things changed. Neocodex is an ever-changing atmosphere, but I think we're still doing a very good job at maintaining our focus and our purpose. We currently have the most Neopets cheating programs than any other site on the internet at 165 programs available immediately from signup + 5 posts if regs were open, as well as the most uses per day at an average of 250-300 uses per day. Our forum is the largest of our kind in terms of posts (~700,000), and the site is pretty active and is impressive for this time of year. We are also the longest standing site of our kind, at almost 1076 days of operation (not counting downtimes; Nexodyne ended their focus early after threats from TNT). That must be something to be proud of, because I think it is. wink.gif

If anyone argues that they don't play neopets, then I'm sorry, but that is our focus and has been for the last three years. You don't have to agree with the statistics. wink.gif

Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of change, we should be focusing on what makes us a great community. The atmosphere may change over time (as any forum does), but we are Neocodex. wink.gif

The site needs the sense of patriotism back, and we need to make people feel proud that they are part of a site like this. The solution doesn't lie in just stopping fights, but by creating a since of fellowship among the members. We can't be trying to kill each other all the time. wink.gif

Codex is still a great community, we just have bumps every now and then. Most people on the boards are mature and overall good people, I think that as long as our community is made from these people, NeoCodex will remain active and strong. We've just hit another bump recently, but as always, Codex Prevails![/vforvendetta] tongue.gif

I understand growing with our community, however, somewhere along the line we picked up a very young audience, and unfortunately, they're killing our topics.

What happened about serious discussions? Or fun, light hearted discussions where something was actually continued, not the same thing over and over again?

Maybe I've just grown up too much.. but this ponies thing irritates the hell out of me... dry.gif

I suppose it's much like the evolution of Neopets. It was originally meant for collegiates, and now look what it has become.

Some people get up and leave, but the sad thing is, more come in and replace them.

Codex isn't and never will be what it used to be. We'll just have to accept that. Hell, I remember being a member at Pant-Devil and noticing a HUGE change when I came over to Codex. Some people mature and move past things in life they once held so dear, most just hold on, putting false hope into their minds.

Zero, I like how you agree with Cody right there, yet you were so up in arms against the Retired members last night, for, guess what?! Trying to keep the integrity of the board and keep shit the same.

The whole pony thing? It's not as though that happens all the time, some people just wanted to have a little fun.
Seriously, people need to quit bitching about it and live with it. If they don't like it stay out of the damn topic.

If there's nothing you think is worthwhile discussing posted atm, go find something and post it, that'd solve your problem right there.

To a lesser extent, I agree, the pony thing was meant as a fun thing to just help alleviate tension and enjoy posting a bit more(for me at least). I don't think one's maturity can be measured so easily, and I honestly believe that, when it comes down to it, most of the people here are rather mature and love being a part of Codex. So what if they have a bit of fun with less that high brow humor every once in a while? While they have that, we can keep the intelligent posting going as well, Codex is a blending of many people after all, no two of which are the same.

I <3 you Codex.

It's true that you can't particularly judge someone based on one event. But when it's on the internet, and the only possible judgments I can pass on the internet are based on what I see, and I see some fuckin ponies with friggin laser beams attached to therie friggin eye, I'm going to assume the worst.
