To access the programs, the user must every day (in their Time Zone), post at least 3 times.
This would really help flush out leechers and make the forum more active.
3 Posts shouldn't be too hard for someone thats interesting in participating in the forum and not just leeching for programs.

Or even if ya like if someone has less than say...20 - 50 posts and they do not post for 1 wk, they cannot use the downloads.

1 post to gain access to downloads is a bit too easy and this should help the forum become more active and keep out leechers.

Forgot to add to first post:

This may increase spam, but still, SPAM = Warn, not just clean up, leechers would of course think "Ok I'll just spam the posts", but if they do, just warn/ban them and they should stop.

What bout that?

Not an avg. of 3 posts per day, just 3 posts on the day that they use the program.

I say/think No.
Why?
It's fine as is.
And leechers leech
They always will and we can't stop them.

What do you actually mean by (in their Time Zone)?

Anyway I don't think forcing leechers to post everyday is a good idea. Either they leech and discover what a good community this is and participate, or they will simply just post their quota posts and leave the site.

What's the point to have a forum if all of the posts conist of:
"Haha lol tink dat was funny"
"WOW LOL kirby.gif"
"OHHHHHHH IM SO SCARED."

Yeah I guess that would have some problems. Well what about not being FORCED to post, but there being more incentives to contribute (Competions [Like the 100 Post Day], More Privs, Awards, etc).

I guess we already got all those to a certain extent, but the more the better! tongue.gif

I didn't like it, want to know why?
Some times people computers crash dry.gif*points own computer* And sometimes I can't find great places to post, and isn't everyone that can stand all day in the computer, some people have to study, so my opinion is just keep like that, ok, they're leeching, but are they bothering someone? I mean, I was already a leecher, for 10 days I was, than I realized how codex was good and thats why I came here. Most of times takes a while to the person resolve to envolve him/herself with the comunity happy.gif

Oh, just let the leechers carry on. It's so much easier.

Personally I think we should let people leech if they're intelligent. And by intelligent I mean capable of reading the stickied topics/faqs and if they have a problem they include the error message/possibly a screen shot and are understandable. If they don't do any of the above they get a warning and if they do it again they get their program privileges revoked for 30 days (And every time you post the punishment is reduced by 1 day but if you spam 7 days are added). But I doubt this (somewhat harsh) system will be implemented since leeching is really a problem here

First- Ryder- Why do you care about leechers?
Second- Leechers are the ones who are missing out in the end, remember that.

As a programmer I could care less about leechers. They don't bother me and just serve as a bigger test group for me tongue.gif

blink.gif I bet you enjoy getting PMs from a cranky leecher who just used your program and got frozen blink.gif

(Not saying your programs get people frozen... when not abused)

Perfect reason why we should ban leechers, they come back, spam everywhere and generally piss everyone off...

You need to change your sig btw Zachafer since 'your' webbrowser tutorial was found to have been ripped from somewhere else. smile.gif

Every now and then I get in 5 posts per day. Bribing people to use programs isn't a good way to get the forums active in my opinion.

I'd rather people post because they want to. Not because they have to.

Haven't gotten one of those yet tongue.gif

What's really nice is when some of them pm you back say something to like "Thank you for the awesome program" or "OMG thank you!!!".

It's a good feeling.
