Because not everybody here can write a term papers for every post. So we express our frustration with cursing. Got a problem with that?
Cursing is cool, don't be a tightass.

I agree with that. I usually swear in front of my friends vice versa. I never swear in public cause, like you said Josh, it's rude and unnecessary. I also don't swear in front of my family. They swear in front of me, but I just choose not to swear in front of them. There's also the fact I'm afraid how they'll react if I do ever swear in front of them

- Said in response to a remark about her physical appearance.
"That "beep" better back the "beep" back."
- Said in response to allegations of theft
In short, using profanity doesn't contribute to your speech. It doesn't show you're angry, just the fact that you have nothing to say and resort to spurting out words in order to win an argument.
The filters should stay, there's no real reason to remove them. They don't harm nor help the community.

I'm in favor.
One the one hand, its freedom of speech, freedom of expression, free press, etc.
On the other, we're a forum about a game predominantly for young people, and thus the average age here is around 12-13.
Its a conundrum.

But of course, I'm not outright supporting censorship either.

I really don't think the average age is that low... at all.

It is the job of the parent to monitor their child's online activity, and not the responsibility of the community. It's the same with television viewing, it is the job of the parent to ensure that their child doesn't see nudity or excessive cursing by monitoring them.
Read my last post above that. It is not the job of a parent to ensure a child does not view things deemed inappropriate, hence why we have Rated R movies, rated M games. Why do you think PG-13 Movies can't have more than 3 f-bombs in them? It's all filtering, you're just complaining because it's affecting you in a way you feel is a hindrance.

Because they get the point across faster. They wouldnt be considered curse words were it not for the fact human beings like to put a stigma around sex, scatology, and anything their God doesn't want.
Theyre just words. Idiots like to make stupidity when using them, so its assumed the word is the root of the problem, but its more or less the context.

Another problem is the fact some people on the forum do have parental censors, to where they cant visit any site with the "curse words on it." So if they could flip a button on or off, it would be less of a hassle for all of us who like to hear the intention and others to blisffully ignore what they think can be ridiculous immaturity.

That's only because you've been influenced by the taboo of swearing through direct and indirect causes as those particular words being "bad and vulgar" words. In one context they are, I agree, but most people, myself included use them for ease of usage, it saves me time thinking of a more educated and proper word. We're on a forum remember, not an English test.

I think the statement that it is rude to curse is well rather stupid to be honest, swearing is everywhere in modern day life, and it has lost what little shock value it may have had, most people accept it as normal language now, for who is to say what a "swear" word is, if i were to say to someone, "You piece of excrement", it would sound alot more vulgar than shit in my opinion, also why is "fuck" considered a swearword, when "bone" or "bang" isn't? they can be used in exactly the same context, "Go fuck yourself"/"Go bone yourself".
Yes the bone one sounds alot less "angry" or "rude" but do you know why this is?
Ill tell you why, because the word "fuck" has been labeled as a swear word, so more people use it to offend than they do other words.
Its all about your perception of words, i personally dont mind the occasional "shit", or "fuck" when something calls for it. i wouldnt say "oh crap" if i just dropped a £400 phone into a lake, I don't think anyone would.
Its not for lack of vocabulary, its for the fact that a short word expresses your emotions very well. "damn" is not compariable to "fuck" in any way.
You say damn if you lose a £5 bet, it just doesnt cut it if you lost a £500 bet.
So it is nessicary in some cases to use profanitys in public, And whether you like it or not, people are always going to use them, as they have become more and more socially acceptable.

The not caring about what they say bit doesn't come from the words they use, but rather the "LIFE IS SHORT, SO LETS MESS IT UP" mindset teenagers and a large portion of society love to embrace. There is such thing as overusing the words, which is bad not because of the language, but because of the fact the terms they will use are incredibly liberal, and could lead to incoherency.

Still, you're using derogatory terms. It really isn't needed here.
