Its been 6 years since that dreadful day. Since that day the United States stood in shoke and terror of what they saw on their tv screens, or what they were witnessing in real life. Many of us were real young when the 4 planes crashed into different areas of the US. I know personally I was in the sixth grade, heading to school. I remember my teacher was late for work. When she came in, she brought a portalable tv in with her and set it up to the news station. She also got on her computer.
I had no clue what was going on that day. I just knew my teacher was unusally afraid. But I sat and I watched the news, and I figured out what was wrong.
6 years later, we are still in a war about it. We really just concern ourselves with the war, we don't really remember what it was started for. I know we all have our "conflicts" about the war, but today is the day that thousands of people lost their lives for. Innocent children, men, women alike, died on the planes, in the towers, in the pentagon. And they have really been forgotten by some folks.

So this thread is not a bash bush thread. It is not a "no more war" thread. This thread is meant only to remember. To remember what you were doing that day. To remember the loved ones that you worried for. To remember loved ones that have never come home. Simply to remember, so we don't forget.

So tell us what you remember.

It happened 6 years ago. I don;t want to seem like an ass, but it was six years ago. Yes. People died. It was very sad. I hate for people to die. BUT, it did happen SIX years ago. Let. Go.

I remember my parents getting me out of classes, and no one saying a word that anything had happened. I remember my dad was on the flight that crashed every other week, but this was his non travel week. He always gets on the 7:00 from logan to LAX, which is really scary now. Was just a very emotional period.

Would you say that to someone who lost their wife, husband, mother, or father?

I'm not in the states, but I believe I was in grade 3 at that time, sitting on the carpet, when my teacher got a phone call, and the principal also came to our room(as she did every other room) and they told us that we're going home early and all of us are like 'cool', and the school staff called every child's parent(s) and they were obviously taken home, and then when I got home, I was bored, turned on the TV, and it was already on the news channel about it, and they showed I think a picture of it.
For a week or two, I was really sad, I wasn't directly affected, nor did my parents, relatives and any other family members, but it's just very, very tragic (at least to me), when somebody dies, and if I cry a shit load for just one person, well..what would happen before if I knew it was over 100(hell, over 1,000) people?

3000 civilians died in that attack. now think about how many more civilians have died following Bush's so-called War on Terror
and tell me if it was worth it.

Ima go with Cata on this one and tell the US to get the bark over it already. If some ass hole comes up and tells you that 9/11 is "the worst thing that has happened to the nation", he may be right but he seems to forget the countless times the US has caused disasters that resulted in the deaths of thousands of people in other nations. e.g. Clinton bombing medicine factory in Africa thinking it to be a chemical warfare factory. But how often do they put that on the news?
(That wasn't the best example but I'd be glad to provide a list for anyone asking for it)

I was on the bus home from high school. My friend text me and told me what had happened. I didn't believe him at all and went round to his house when I got home to ask what it was all about. He showed me the coverage on tv and we sat there for hours. We barely said a word the whole time....when we watched the towers come down live on TV it was one of those moment that scars you. Makes me wonder what it was like to be in the building or in the surrounding area. Just imagine the picture's that some people must have in their mind's that will never go away.

I'm pretty bored of seeing the same programs on tv all the time when september 11th come's around but it's not something that people should "get over" or forget for that matter.

I was watching Farenheit 9/11 last night for the first time last night and found it pretty scary to be honest. I have read about all the conspiracy theories etc as I believe in all that but the way Michael Moore got his point across was amazing. Make's one wonder what really happens in the world.....we only get to see what certain people want us to see/hear.

sitting in class writing in my harry potter journal, friend nudges me and points to the plane in manhattan, we see it hit and explode on the first tower. everybody assumes its an accident including our teacher, couple minutes later a second one hits, at that time someone comes into our classroom telling my teacher to close the blinds on the window. got picked up from school by my dad about 10 minutes later, i remember having to wear one of those surgeon masks walking home to protect da lungz from all the debris and smoke.

but for me it's not 9/11 today, it's the first day of school sad.gif.

Why not remember something on a day.. It doesn't take any effort, and if it makes you mad to remember something on ONE day of the year where tons of innocent people died then you have serious problems.. its not like you have to do anything other then just think of something for 5 minutes then go on with your day.. so why get over it so soon?.. people will be over it when all the families involved get over it.. how long would it take you if your mom and dad just randomly died?

I was in like 5th grade and i we were talking about a book that we just read. Then the Dean walked in almost in tears, then she whispered something in my teachers ear and his face went pale. He told us to hurry up and gather our things and we will be going home soon. I live in Chicago, so there was a possibility of the Sears tower being attacked.

And with all the people saying oh forget it. Its kinda hard to do when that many people died. One of the reasons we are not "letting it go" is because we are used to taking the fight out of our country and not being attacked here.

Just state your opinion as non-condescending as possible, and leave. Wicked has full rights to their topic staying open, even if some think the idea of this topic is no good. Thanks. smile.gif

I remembered hearing about it after I got back from a fieldtrip. I got home and watched it on the News. I found out next day my friend's father was missing and unaccounted for. I found out the day after a boy who was on the plane that hit the second tower was someone I went to Summer Camp with.

2 weeks later my friend's father's body was found. He had been on the second to top floor closing a huge deal for his company, which now no longer exists.

My physics teacher had to cancel a flight that day as well. I believe it was the one that hit the ground.

Regardless of what you feel about 9/11 you should remember the people who died, especially the ones fighting to take the plane back. The people who went down in the last plane probably saved it from taking more lives had it hit a building. They were goddamn noble.

    Also, a tribute video. Enjoy.

If you die in something like this I'll be sure to post and make fun of you too. God grow up. Everything you post now-a-days is either immature or offensive, and in this case, both.

I remember watching in disbelief as the planes went into the buildings. I was sitting on my couch nursing a severe migraine thanking my lucky stars I did not go into the city that day to take the ATF exam like I was suppose which ironically was to be held in Tower 1. For me it is hard to just let it go. Every day I wake up and kiss my kids goodbye knowing I almost never got this chance to be a father. I will remember my friends I lost always.

Guys even if I am not pro-having a remembrance service every year stop being dicks. Seriously. It's only been six years and I bet you (please do prove me wrong) that with Pearl Harbor after just six years they had a remembrance too. Eventually we will stop doing that but for the foreigners posting this... Seriously. Stop. You weren't the country effected by it (no, I am not talking indirectly) so you don't really understand. If I remember correctly England was pretty shaken by the London bombings as well and I'd have every respect for people if you decided to have a topic about that. This is such a shock to America primarily because we had never had a terrorist attack on this scale before. If you don't agree with us just simply having a topic about it.. it's no excuse to be a jerk about it. It's an especially sensitive subject for some especially if they were close to it. I even don't understand the pain that people go through as I was 3000 miles away from the incident. But if I was still living in the DC area you bet your ass I'd still be upset because more than likely one of my friend's parents would have been working in the pentagon.

I was in third grade when it happened. Didn't know anything about it until I got home that day. Actually, the principle said something about it on the afternoon announcements, but I had no clue what the WTC was. Then I got home, my mom was at work and my sister hadn't gotten out of school yet, and turned on the TV. (Nickelodeon tongue.gif ) My uncle calls and asks me about my mom and where she was at, so I tell him, then he tells me to put the news on. So I do and see the firefighters going through the rubble at the WTC. They show the second tower being hit, and the pentagon, etcetc.
