I hate math jokes. I mean I get the joke, it's just that it and most other math jokes are just stupid. tongue.gif 'A' for effort though. tongue.gif

I thought this was super funny but it's kind of like a pun in its humor. I guess that's just because I'm really nerdy sad.gif.

Well, my math teacher from last year (Who, by chance, only smiles at home/on his wedding day) told us some math jokes:

Pick up line: Honey, you're as sweet as 3.14159256...

We're sorry, but this phone is irrational. Please turn your phone ninety degrees at try again. (Real to complex graph.)

If I had a dime for every time someone said they hated math, I'd have a lot of zeroes.

I had the same kind of teacher. He would not only tell us math jokes to use at parties, if you said something particularly stupid he would post it up on the wall above the board for everyone to see... and otherwise make fun of everyone.

His digg into me was, "Whoa, whoa, let me back up so I can hear you better, now repeat." Because I'm "loud". XD

According to the Bible, that is the case tongue.gif

But it's not irrational because it can be expressed as a fraction tongue.gif

No it isn't. 22/7 = 3.142857...
pi = 3.141592....

A much more accurate (but still not exact) fraction of pi is:
355/113 = 3.14159292...
pi = 3.14159265...

Actually, it can't.. Pi is irrational, and has been solved out into the thousands and thousands (if not millions, hell I don't keep up with pi)

Even though, they already proved that is was absolutely unending, no matter how far it was solved out, in 1761 by showing that that no numbers, no matter what, could express pi in the form of p/q because p would have to be both positive and negative at the same time.. which is impossible.

How did they work that out? Hell if I know. smile1.gif

O___O 22/7 is a close estimate to pi, but not pi itself.

22/7: 3.14285714....
Pi: 3.14159265....

It is just an approximation for pi. Makes doing the math a bit easier, especially if you lack a calculator.

So am I, if I'm honest tongue.gif
I, like Hydro, thought it was 22/7.

You can prove using Taylor series that pi is irrational, since no matter how many iterations you use, you will always find more new digits. 1we8.gif I had to do this in a Math lab.
