I do believe I have said numerous time that my PM box is always open. Unlike others, I do not typically block people who I do not wish to talk too.

Nor do I, in fact I only have 1 person on my PM Block List so it takes quite a bit to get on there. smile.gif You should be proud.

Don't worry, I'm not a fan of double standards either:

Oh but of course, it's just staff who have double standards, never would it be the members.
Hawk, honestly, I'm not trying to start anything, I'm merely using it as an example - it's not just staff.

If someone does have constructive criticism, I do in fact welcome it. I may not like it, nor agree with it necessarily, but I'm not adverse to it.
I have been trying lately to change some of the way I do things on this site. That is hard to do, because then you get the lovely term inconsistent thrown at you. I find, it is hard to please everyone, in fact, impossible.

But normal members don't have powers or responsibilites to same effect as staff so when a staff member shows off double standards on the boards it effects the person in question and staff as a whole as you may get warned for one thing and in retrospect you'll get let off. There's no constitent rule enforcing as it's hard to say if staff know the rules blink.gif

QUOTE (Cory @ Apr 17 2008, 05:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It be nice if you gave a little more insight and example of what your talking about. Sure double standards happen every day and is something that we should try our best to avoid, but sometimes it does happen.

I find it ironic that you talk about how easy it is to handle staff positions, when you are the one who was demoted for being unable to abide by the same rules that you enforced so strongly.

As I said before, I'm not going to name names as that just causes more arguements or I'll just get warned for flamebaiting. Oh and I chose to be demoted so don't give me that shit, espically seeing as I've been in a higher postion on this board then you.

Probably still lusting over Hannah or something.

QUOTE (Josh @ Apr 17 2008, 05:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Seriously guys, this is what I've been talking about all along. Staff is so immature and they are always abusing their powers like we see above. Was that appropriate? Not at all. It was completely irrelevant to the topic and has ruined a perfectly good topic discussing this very reason. How ironic.

See, shit like that I don't think anyone cares about, we're all here for a laugh and joke aren't we? It's just annoying when you have jobsworths as staff.

I only block people who usually don't know what they're talking about, usually too stupid to realise it either.

Or you speak a different language. Simple explanation. And yes I have yet to translate what he said in binary past the one about taking over codex. You can choose to think I'm either illiterate or stupid but only i know the truth. It should be obvious though that it isn't the first one.

Lol, I like your points Oaken.
Frizzle, you really need to learn that some people have different opinions than you. That doesn't make them wrong, that just makes your opinions stupid. wink.gif Or different, depends on how you look at it. But you react so swiftly to just say that someone is ignorant when you disagree with them. Sometimes listening can actually make you learn something. Think about that while you suck on the lollipop that was given to you for once being in a high position. Key word: once.

I never said I was higher than him. I just said he wasn't high anymore. Advanced Member just shows that you are active. That's easy to get. But if you go by privileges, its the same.

EDIT: High as in position, not on LSD. This isn't the 60's.

Oh, my, God. Hey Cory, look at the bolded part! He chose to be demoted, just like Joe did. And you said the terminology was wrong. Oh, it was the perfect word, you were just swayed by the connotation. lookaround.gif I still stand by what I called you then.

Well learn better English then when coming to an English speaking board. Seriously, I haven't got time to dumb myself down for foreigners like you. Take take take.

Don't condescend to me, it doesn't make you look mature or smart. It just makes you look stupid.

And yes, once. I demoted myself from retired leader aswell. I have never been demoted from a rank to date.

Well, I'm not foreign, I was just pointing out that someone who didn't speak English wouldn't be able to understand it. And I never said you got demoted either. I just said that you aren't at a high rank anymore. Simple reading mistake though, I've made it before too. Not trying to be condescending, just stating my point of view on you. Simple as that.

He was saying your point was invalid. You implied that he was only in a high position once, like it was a bad thing, when in reality he demoted himself from the high position implying he doesn't want it. Therefor if he doesn't want it, how could he get it again? So your point is invalid.

I've been in a high position once, and I removed myself from it, does that make me bad too? If not I fail to see the point in your original post.

My original point is that he was using his once high rank like it matters now, which in my mind it doesn't. I don't see rank as a bad thing but when you use it to show "superiority" then I do see something bad about it. Maybe I misunderstood what he meant but thats what I got out of it. It has nothing to do with if he demoted himself or someone else did. I also disagree with his views on this thread so I argue my side. Nothing is wrong with that because I respect his right to argue his side. But I see nothing wrong with anyone being in a high position and removing themselves from it, sorry I didn't make myself clear before.

Good point made. The experience earned does matter and so do the skills used in achieving those ranks. This I agree with and I have respect for those that earned these ranks, due to the work in achieving them. But I still stand by that I don't agree with him implying that he has superiority due to his rank or time on the board. Though he and you and pretty much everyone here has more experience on the board then I do, I don't see this as you being superior. In the skills needed to obtain that rank, yes you getting programming leader and he getting whatever rank it was means that you and he are superior in those areas, but the rank doesn't make you superior in everything. You did state this though but I'm just mentioning it because that was my whole point.

Many people disagree with my thoughts on time spent on the boards and post count doesn't make you superior to newer members but that's just how I feel. Argue with me if you don't agree, I'd love to listen to what you have to say.

But yes, in saying that his old rank doesn't matter at all I was wrong so I take it back but I'm not going to edit it out like some people do. Its been said and quoted, it can't be taken back.

Well I respect their input more than newer members and I trust them more but I don't think they are better than me. I just have never liked the system of superiority anywhere. Its just something with me.
