http://people.mozill...of-firefox3.swf

I saw this a few days ago but it recently popped up on Digg. Thought it was a cool look at Firefox 3.

The new address bar seems to be the biggest addition to Firefox 3 and honestly I hate it with a passion. I use Firefox 2 on my windows system, but both work and my roomates computer ( which I use more then she does. >.< ) has Hardy Heron on it, which comes pre installed with Firefox 3 and honestly it's the biggest pain in the ass to play with.

First I don't want my porn history randomly popping up while I'm searching for "big" trucks or something ridiculous like that. Also it's kind of intrusive as it just seems out of place and takes up too much space. Very unappealing to the eyes. The book mark feature is actually something I really like, but I'm sure I could find a similar feature with an add-on that's already in existence for Firefox 2.

The Synaptic like system for Firefox 3 add-ons is nice and all, but I would much rather browse a website that has them organized in a larger font and have more options as far as ratings, downloads and top searches go.

The new malaware prevention is actually really cool, I wish it would have came on Firefox 2 but I guess the saying better late then never plays a role here.

So what do you guys think? =x

I love the new address bar! really handy to just type in a few words instead of remembering the address. I don't really care about the add-ons manager. It's pretty slick but I don't use too many add-ons or anything so.

The only thing that nags me about Firefox is the new download manager. I don't like how you have to right-click an entry and go all the way to the bottom to remove the download. Pretty annoying if you're selecting a few here and there.

I love how your worried about your porn history lmao.

Personally, I don't like the new address bar either, but I like the way to browse add-ons and whatnot. Though that doesn't make or break a browser.

I can see how the search bar could be useful but I also don't want my porn popping up randomly. tongue.gif

The changes to the downloads system will be nice, at the moment it's just terrible...and let's hope they've fixed some more of the memory leaks.

I like the new bar - especially the tags - now i have all my cool sites i visit tagged so i can just ALT+D, type Tag details, down arrow - done, all without leaving the keyboard
also another good feature is the more info, i can check a site to see what cookies it's holding just by clicking the favicon, and cookie info
it's made my fave collection a little lazy now tho as i don't need to worry about putting them in to folders, so they are all a mess and i have to search by typing into the address bar LOL
I've still not got used to loosing the green arrow, i used to like that, we shall see how good the anti-malware is using real world stuff

i have no doubt there will be an addon to be able to clean up based on certain things - the one bit i thought you porno fans would find a little bad is the "you've visited x site 200 times" in the info about the page LOL

all in all, good work

I should probably do something about my bookmarks list too. tongue.gif It takes about 30 seconds for it to scroll to the bottom...

I just downloaded Opera and FF3. Both seem pretty snazzy.

I've been using FF2. I just started using Opera and I really like it. I'm going to use it as my main browser after I switch over all my bookmarks. smile.gif

I'm curious: what don't you like about Opera?

Download link for firefox 3:

http://download.mozi...f...&lang=en-GB

Still works even though the main mozilla site is down.

Opera already has the new feature that ff3 has! wahey smile.gif

Ugh, just as I was about to love Opera.. I'm getting blank pages everywhere. I have to hit F5 to go to any page. 1we8.gif

edit: uninstalled, reinstalled, seems to be fine.

Lots of the mozilla servers are down because of all the hype so it looks like their 'record' attempt will probably take a bit of a hit. tongue.gif

Sucks for them tongue.gif

It said release candidate on the welcome screen when I first ran it, is it really the new one?

Doesn't say anything about release candidate for me...they just haven't updated the welcome screen.

I just downloaded it onto my new computer, it is pretty nice. I also disabled the damn address bar thing, so now it only shows typed addresses, not all the other shit. smile.gif
