Okay, so my new graphics card arrived, yippee (not so much right now).
The dot problem is gone, which is good.
However the freezing problem is not.

Whenever I boot up my computer I get to the Welcome Screen, I login, and I get to the desktop, often times program shortcuts won't load, and as soon as I click something, everything freezes except for the mouse which I can move around, but that's it.

Please help, I'm so sick of this shit. I hate technology.

Oh, and if you don't come in here to offer good advice, then just don't post. I'm serious ready to snap because this computer has basically caused me so much frustration in the past month I'm ready to chuck it out the nearest window.

Get a new computer. tongue.gif

First make sure you got the updated drivers. Then check your memory with memtest86+(google it). Lastly it may be your psu.

Okay, clearly you didn't even read my post. How the hell am I supposed to install drivers when I can't even get to my desktop?

Not even safe mode? Run safe mode, use driver cleaner to uninstall old drivers and try installing a new one.

Make sure cables are attached properly. Theres also good chance it could be your memory or psu. What kind of card and psu do you have?

1. CD's contain old drivers, you never want to use driver's off the CD
2. How can you run a CD and install something if you cant even boot completely

^ that, since you're pretty much ready to chuck out your computer anyway, why not try that first? Sometimes it works wonders

I think I had a same situation (or similar) on my laptop, I took it to the service center (still had warranty back then), and they said my motherboard had some problems so they switched the motherboard blink.gif

but try formating your drive first

Or try throwing in your OS CD, boot from it and do the Repair option when it prompts you.

Do you have time to read the BSOD? does it say Hardware failure or anything?

We're like the police when they had their toilets stolen... we have nothing to go on.

The best thing you can do, since obviously you don't know much about computers is take it somewhere for them to look at. Telling us issues over the internet really isn't going to give you a sure fire solution unless we know exactly what's up. There is things you look for that you just can't easily describe. Screen flashes, hangs at certain points and things like that.

Circuit City and Best Buy will both look at it and see what's wrong with it for free. Best thing you can do is take it in to Best Buy have them check it out tell you what's wrong and then take it to Circuit City and have them check. If they both say the same thing then obviously you know what the issue is and you can either try to fix it or yourself or pay one of the more experienced guys to fix it.

I dunno how things work over in Florida, but the Geek squad here in Washington is nothing but a bunch of failures.

Well, I've found the disk and right now I'm formatting my hard-drive. It's a slow process since I chose the extensive format to get rid of anything that might be causing this. If this doesn't work I'll probably take it to Best Buy (does it cost anything?)

I'm not interested in talking to dell ever again.

That's why I advise taking it to more the one place. tongue.gif Yes sometimes you'll get a tech who is a complete moron, but if you take it to multiple people and they say the same things then chances are it's the issue the suggest.

Just talk to the tech you take it to , make sure they know that you don't want them to do anything until they talk it over with you. They'll look at it and tell you what's wrong for free. Then charge you for whatever repairs it needs.

Like I said, I strongly suggest you get a second opinion. =x Just like with a car or a doctor. tongue.gif

That is some solid advice, especially for women when it comes to the car. wink.gif I hope she remembered to fill up her headlight fluid when trying to figure out why it wouldn't work. wink.gif

Yay. Discuss the joy of finally fixing a computer after hours of shit! biggrin.gif

Shit=Bad
Joy=Good

It's quite the relief when you get something done... especially when you do it on your own when you weren't too confident in yourself.

Grats on the working puter.
