Is there a limit on the type of painted pet you can get at the point in correspondence to your account age?

Yes, if your under 4 months, you can only ADOPT certain colors. After 4 months, you can adopt or be transferred any color pets. Oh, and if you have a paint brush and under 4 months, you can still paint your pet that color--that 4 month and under rule only is only for adopting. You can't transfer until your 4 months, so that will prohibit you from getting a color that way as well.
