Alright, so I'm contemplating joining the Canadian Forces. It's a good way to get the remainder of my education paid for, a solid job out of school as well as a few possible tours (It'd be nice to leave Canada for a bit). I'm looking at the physical standards right now and they're pretty sad to be honest.

Push-ups
Men under 35: 19
35 and older: 14

Women under 35: 9
35 and older: 7

Sit-ups
Men under 35: 19
35 and older: 17

Women under 35: 15
35 and under: 12

Grip test (in kilograms, both hands combined
Men under 35: 75
35 and older: 73

Women under 35: 50
35 and older: 48

2.4 km run
Men under 30: 11:56
Women under 30: 14:46

6 chinups for me as well. How about that for some easy testing? tongue.gif

I believe this is two weeks into basic training. It's still ridiculous.

And Alex, that's kind of accurate. laugh.gif

    Ha.
    Don't worry.
Even Canada has to have standards higher than that for graduation.

I'm no gun enthusiast so most of that went straight over my head. I guess you gotta be one when you're a hired killer in the armed forces.

The problem is that's for ALL people joining the military, yes? Well all people regardless of where they are planning to go be in even repairmen or underwater welders need to pass that, yes? So they need to make it easy for everyone since they're not just testing the grunts tongue.gif I hear even the nurses need to do that.

Most people should be above those standards I would hope. And Alex, a grip test is what it sounds like. The force you can exert from squeezing something.

It will, once we negate capitalism and adopt a social means of production.
