every so often i get an annoying 404 error for www.neocodex and when accessing pages on the forum. when this happens neocodex.us without the www works fine

i did a DNS lookup for codex's domain and it looks like the site is hosted on more than one server, idk if a nasty a-record is causing this trouble or if the other host just goes up and down... but this should be looked into cause its a real pain and has been happening for a while

It happens as soon as you login too, doesn't look very good to visitors. 1we8.gif

an admin should just temporarily set the main domain for IPB as neocodex.us without the www. not great for SEO purposes but at least it gets the job done. or set the www. a record to w/e the localhost is at 1we8.gif

I'll text Pyke tomorrow. I don't want to wake him up. tongue.gif

Sadly, our only active admin isn't very active at the moment because of a personal situation. I'm sure if I let him know the problem he'll fix it right away.

I would have, but she was unbearably stupid.

According to all the info in front of me, the default host is neocodex.us, additionally the wiki should be dead but that's still floating about.

righ tnow the default is www., the entire website is still structured in that format.. im 90% sure if there's an option in IPB to manage this. you should be able to set the default hostname as neocodex.us. if that doesn't work then there is no getting around this DNS issue and hydro or whoever runs the hosting/domain needs to fix the arecords
