I've heard talk about way down the road, the idea of pumping saline into you at the scene of an accident in order to preserve you long enough to get treated at a hospital. Nothing like freezing you and storing you away for hundreds of years though. tongue.gif

They offer different freezings; one for whole body, one for just head, and one for just brain. Would it work in theory(post mortem) for the brain then with the antifreeze since there aren't any bones ?

I suppose... though I have no idea what other effects the antifreeze could have tongue.gif

It probably wouldn't be saline tongue.gif

One really exciting thing that is in development, regarding pumping fluid (tongue.gif), is for treating victims of fires where their lungs are burnt.
Basically, it's "breathable liquid", that is infused with healing salves. It's ingenious.

Ya you Americans are a weird bunch. All for personal liberty but then you go limit it thanks to religion I guess.

I always assumed it was better to be frozen pre-death. Like a bit before an uncurable disease kills you. Didn't they freeze Walt Disney before he died.

    Nevermind that's a myth tongue.gif

The wiki on cyrogenics says the Disney thing is myth. It goes on to say he was cremated and his ashes dispersed over the Pacific blink.gif

Yeah man I don't think that these guys that got frozen are ever coming back to life. I'm pretty sure it's just a huge scientifically backed scam to make money tongue.gif The prices are frickin absurd. I think 80K as the minimum. That's like the guys salary and he's not contributing to society lol

"Tragedy is in the eye of the beholder. As Sid Caesar (or maybe Mel Brooks -- one of those really heavy thinkers) said: 'The difference between comedy and tragedy? When the saber tooth tiger eats Moe, that's comedy. When I get a hangnail, that's tragedy.' And if the Tiger of Death eats you, that is the ultimate tragedy; that is when the world ends, when the cosmos disappears, when Everything becomes Nothing.

"The 'tragedy' of the slow growth of immortalism pertains mostly to them, and perhaps to you -- not so much to me or to us, the committed immortalists. We already have made our arrangements for cryostasis after clinical death -- signed our contracts with existing organizations and allocated the money. We will have our chance, and with a little bit of luck will 'taste the wine of centuries unborn'. "

    QUOTE ("wikipedia")
Cryptobiosis is an ametabolic state of life entered by an organism in response to adverse environmental conditions such as desiccation, freezing, and oxygen deficiency. In the cryptobiotic state, all metabolic procedures stop, preventing reproduction, development, and repair. An organism in a cryptobiotic state can essentially live indefinitely until environmental conditions return to being hospitable. When this occurs, the organism will return to its metabolic state of life as it was prior to the cryptobiosis.

Tbh, the main reason I wouldn't get frozen is because chances are they'll discover how to do it completely in the future and knowing my luck, a special liquid was needed or something that they didn't use on me.

    QUOTE
    [edit] Cryobiosis

Cryobiosis is a form of cryptobiosis
that takes place in reaction to decreased temperature. To initiate cryobiosis, the organism freezes all of the water within its cells. This allows the organism to endure the freezing temperatures until more hospitable conditions return. Studies have shown that the longer an organism remains in cryobiosis, the longer it takes for the organism to come out of cryobiosis. This is because the organism must use its own energy to come out of cryobiosis, and the longer it stays in cryobiosis the less energy it has.

By the name of the post I thought this was neo related and wondering wtf was going on, now it seems someone watched the movie vanillasky ...uggh that movie confuses me but its pretty much what its about.

80k I would think its more if it was that price many many many could afford to do it and the world would be full of frozen bodies not buried ones they would in time run out of room for these bodies I would think... but once again i'm just rambling!

I actually live about a mile from the Cryogenics lab in the article that states it was in Arizona before it moved to California. As far as I know, most people that do submit themselves to crygogenics do not do so with their entire body. Though it's possible, I've been told that it will take even longer to figure out how to restart a body then it will to do so with just a brain. So most (at least in AZ) get their brain frozen.
