So I love drinking normal milk but I am beginning to realize I might be slightly lactose intolerant. I changed to soy milk for the last little while the "silk" brand. I like the taste and the fact that I can drinking it whenever and never feel sick. I've read things online that are always contradicting themselves.

As far as I know most of the studies that show that soy milk is bad were funded by cow milk companies.

I just don't know if I should keep drinking it.

any thoughts?!?

What's wrong with Silk? It's fuckin' yummy, and if you aren't getting explosive diarrhea from it, I say go for it.

well that would be an easy fix. They just put lactaid in the milk and away they go.

Actually the reason I do not like lactose free milk is because it just breaks down the lactose into the sugars it is made of and you can taste it. I love the original taste of milk and when you break down the lactose you can taste the full 12g of sugar per cup. I hate how sugary lactose free milk tastes so I cannot get past it.

The reason I like soy over it is because soy milk has half the sugar and it is insanely more supplemented then normal milk.

Soy milk is relatively rich in genistein and daidzein, a pair of plant estrogens, or phytoestrogens. Like the body’s own estrogen, phytoestrogens bind to and activate specific receptors on cells throughout the body.<---I think it only matters if you drink a ton because they are weak estrogens compared to human ones

I do not believe that drinking soy milk should be any different from eating a soy burger. I may not like the taste, but if you do, power to you. Go for it and enjoy your veggie-cow-products

Just drink normal milk, if the "side effects" of soy milk bother you that much. If you love it that much then the effects of drinking milk should be equal to enjoyment. I still drink normal milk occasionally even though it, and all other dairy products, thoroughly upset my stomach. Although my degree of lactose intolerance is probably lower than yours.

What makes you say you're intollerant? If its gasiness just stick it through it's a phase.

I drink like 2 litres of milk per day. If I ever became lactose intolerant, I'd go crazy :p

    ...

I'm pretty sure there's nothing unhealthy about soy milk. It has more health benefits than regular milk....think about it, it's basically just soy beans. <-nothing wrong with those either

Soy milk has a lot more benefits then negatives.

I too am lactose intolerant. I like soy milk and rice milk but soy is 'closer' to cow milk.

Have you tried organic milk? I get less 'reactions' to organic milk. Horizons makes a great organic milk and you can buy a small 'milk box' at Starbucks to try and see if that helps. The fact that more and more people are discovering they are 'lactose intolerant' makes me think it might be more intolerance to the nasty hormones and antibiotics they give the cows now.

Oh and if you can find it, goats milk has a lot less lactose. It doesn't taste much different then cow's milk.

Watch the movie Food Inc sometime. That movie has me really hating non organic farming..

I know for me lactaid and lactose free milk gives me serious pain..

I used to use soy milk with my cereal all the time up in college.

I'm not intolerant...I just love the taste of it :3

And no...it didn't make my jubblies grow bigger. Thank goodness >>

yeah I watched food inc that stuff is crazy. Definately a good movie for people to see. i could just imagine all the cow farts especially since they spend their life knee deep in poo. or the chickens who never see daylight in their life and are just ammonia drenched from their own excrement. I'm moreso kinda lactose intolerant but not really. If i drink half a litre on an empty stomach I get some gas but I love it so much.

If I wouldn't get in shit for drinking all of the milk, I'd probably do the same, that cow juice is just so delicious.Posted Image

I've tried many brands of Soymilk, and in my honest opinion, if you think Silk tastes good you've probably not tried ZenSoy :|

Silk is pretty poor tasting by my standards.. especially since it's got a strange aftertaste.

If you're looking for healthy, USDA Organic, and an amazing taste in soymilk I'd suggest ZenSoy. They have amazing flavors including Vanilla, Cappaccino, Chocolate, Strawberry, & regular soymilk.

Look for the panda bear on the carton. They also sell mini juicebox thingies xD which are amazingggg! It's the best tasting one out of all of them and also has added Omega 3 which in recent studies helps improve life span and aging in people with and without heart conditions ^_^

    You are kidding right?
Unless you are calf, cow milk wasn't meant for human consumption and now a days its full of steroids, hormones and antibiotics.

Soy can help prevent cancer, control cholesterol, has less fat/sugar/calories then even skim milk. So you get all the vitamins of cow milk plus some with none of cow milk's negatives.

Oh and y'all know most baby formulas are soy based not cow milk based right?
