i think its a pretty good suggestion if there was a decent amount of people on in the irc but sadly theres almost noone on there. So i don't think its important

On the contrary I think that validates the time stamp being enabled even more so, with it being enabled you will see how long ago the most recent entry is.

You should enable it on your client. It's client dependent.

Which client are you using? I would just google for "how to enable timestamps in <client>" where client is your client . You could also just fool around with the settings .
