Good for you, that's the second time you said that in the same topic?

Well what's to prevent someone from inventing an automatic crossbow? Weapons of killing will always improve over time.

If a crazy old man can do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS4RKoRyTik I don't see why researchers wouldn't do it if there weren't any guns.

Do you not see the fire rate on that? Pathetic. As well as the velocity is still terrible, and its still just as deadly as before. Does not compare with a gun.

Again, this is something a old guy invented on a spur of the moment thing. If the gun had not been invented, the crossbow would have been improved over the ages of what? 1000 years? I'm sure there would be faster and deadlier versions of an automatic crossbow than something someone made at home.

But lances are categorized under spears/polearms aren't they?...

Yes but for jousting they use lances.

And it would still be less powerful then a gun. What part of that do you not understand?

Not as powerful as a gun because it wouldn't be using gunpowder but will still kill you easily which is what I thought you were arguing for.

It will never be able to kill as easily as a gun. /sigh.

Unless someone invents a crossbow that shoots lockon able shots at 30shots per second, with 300 yard range. ITS NOT AS EASY.

Of course it's not going to shot as far or fast as a gun, especially since the gun has a few hundred years on it. The Chinese had repeating crossbows that could shoot two quarrels at a time and several in a minute but that was like in 200 A.D? But of course the Chinese lost to people with guess what, guns :)

I'm not saying it'll make things as easy a gun but it'll still gets the job done. With a thousand years of advancement I'm pretty sure just about anybody who can aim can use a repeating automatic crossbow aided with a scope/infrared pointer on it, etc, etc.

When guns were first invented they weren't that great but thanks to modern day science, it can shoot a clip in under a minute.
