Or we could have devoloped technology the same was we have before, just never bothered to develop guns. You dont have to be stupid, to not invent a weapon. We could still invent cars, and computers, and everything else, just avoid the mistake of creating and mass producing guns.

And, your basically saying that all theoretical physicists jobs are pointless. Given that all they do is speculate.

Except that's utterly impossible. The only way humans wouldn't invent powdered projectile weapons is if we were a totally non-agressive race, which renders the discussion doubly pointless.

There is absolutely no way that a race capable of developing cars and computers could spend the 900 years since the discovery of black powder in blissful ignorance of explosive weaponry.

Saying that this speculation is pointless is not the same as saying all speculation is pointless. Learn to logic.

And the move of drawing and cutting at the same time, takes practice to be able to pull of. That enforces the point that some kind of effort comes into play when trying to kill someone.

Not only effort, but it actually gives the victim some fighting chance of seeing what's coming.
With a gun, you will never see it coming.
A guy 25 ft away, in a crowded area hiding a pistol...you'll be dead before you know it.
With a sword, others can warn you and possibly stop the assailant.
With a gun, good luck finding someone who will help you and not run away.

Perhaps we discovered guns, but the people that did simply decided not to give it any merit?

So you're saying that if you were to get killed, you'd be much more satisfied being owned by someone skilled enough to handle their weapon, as opposed to some guy who can just point and pull a trigger?

Not give any merit to the most efficient method of killing people that can be kept in a pocket?

Of course. It would mean that I had a fighting chance. Atleast before I died, I tried to live. If he shot me with a gun, I might not even have had time to notice.

So what if someone just decides to randomly stab you behind the back in a crowded street?

There are plenty of amazing inventions that have been given no merits at all.

And, all speculation is, is grabbing at straws. If I wasn't grabbing at straws, I wouldn't be speculating.

High chance of surviving that, unless he has been specifically trained in which places to hit to actually kill.

Except by you? Of course there are.

And, no. Sensible speculation is well reasoned and carefully considered, but "grasping at straws" is the precise opposite.
That said, I don't think any of this is sensible speculation anyway.

A lot of practice, and it was risky as well. You're talking life and death if you couldn't execute it properly.

For one. Not all of that information is correct. And for two, someone telling you were to stab is 100% different then actually stabing there. You cant just google and and learn how to stab someone in a crowded place perfectly so that way he dies. Sorry.

And the following image is to prove that even non-gunpowder weapons can be a relatively small size for concealment. Maybe it's not pocket-sized, but it disproves a few points that have been made here.

Uhhhh, seeing people walk around in chain-mail going to class because they don't know if they will get attacked or not would be RAW!

    Just sayin'.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if some people in London are already going to school wearing stab vests.

Well he is talking about living in a world where guns are non-existent, which clearly means that people would walk around with samurai swords and shanks. People need to be prepared, plus the saying "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight" would cease to exist. It'd be more like, "Don't forget your chain-mail on the way to your knife fight."

No, it doesn't "clearly mean" that at all. Your hopelessly shallow thinking verges on the offensive.

No. Your still not making any point. It would take alot more skill to hit someone with that, and actually kill them, then with a gun.

That makes plenty of point. It's point and shoot. Same functionality as a gun. I would contend that an untrained person with one bolt is just as deadly (one-on-one) as an untrained person with a gun. Also no idiot would be holding his crossbow sideways in an attempt to look gangster.
