Can you fault the man for believing what he believes? Sure, he could use a little discretion about when to post such things, but we don't practice censorship here.

Well, except for CP. lol@Jake

When the shit did I say I fault you. I dont like stm as a person. Not cause he has shit political views ;)

    I couldn't care less.

Then again, I was 9 and was more worried about getting to school on time than something that happened in another country which had no direct impact on me at all.

This. Except I was about 11/12 years old. I don't care about Americans. Really. If a nuke wiped out a million of you tomorow, I wouldn't care. (Well maybe economically it would affect me, but meh). The same applies to any other country and any other person who dies. Tens of thousands die daily. I don't care. Doesn't affect me, I don't give a shit.

Call it gutless, cold or down right evil if you want. It's how I put up with thugs, drug dealers, rapists, peadophiles and addicts every day in my life. Even the 7/7 bombings I don't really care about. I have basic human sympathy, but when it happened over such a long period of time ago, you kinda don't give a shit anymore.

It's like war memorials, you honestly don't give a fuck because it happened so long ago, yet you still remember and respect those cra-zay muddafuckers.

Don't mind Redlion. He just shows up to disagree with me.

Please don't make this into a debate. Feel free to start another thread to do so.

I was more less joking about that. Me and Redlion just don't agree on anything.

Also, you can't really pair this statement:

I don't care about Americans. Really. If a nuke wiped out a million of you tomorow, I wouldn't care.

Nice topic! Good to not forget history.

I was in 9th grade. Im 3 hours behind and my first period teacher was all freaking out. This old lady.
Then next period in math the teacher acted like nothing happend. Was weird cuz she was an old white lady too. But I guess she was seen being more strict then my first.

My dad came to pick me up I and it was like my 2nd week at a new high school. He couldn't find me so he left lol.

I was 11, in 6th grade. After the first one hit we were watching the news when the second one hit live. I live in Florida so I personally didn't lose anyone (although I have some family in NY) but my mom's best friend died at the pentagon. I know a lot of people with different theories about 9/11 (some of which are pretty retarded), but I'd just rather not concern myself with it. What happened is done and no amount of speculation on my part is gonna do anything about it. RIP to those who died that day and stay strong to anyone affected by their deaths <3

At the time, I was in Romania and I was probably told about it but I was like 7 so I had no idea what I was being told. Only when I got to Canada, I learned about it in grade 4. Quite tragic, but why are we dwelling on only 3000 deaths that happened 9 years ago, when hundreds of people are dying daily in Darfur? Why isn't that getting any media coverage? Or how about the past genocides like Rwanda, and Sierra Leone. No one talks about those, so why is America more important? It's not like it was millions of Americans. It was 3000, and although I sympathize to their families and friends, I think that there's so many other people suffering/dying right now.

Agreed. Compared to any death statistic per day in the world about anything (car accidents, viruses, war, murder, suicide, etc,etc ,etc) or a great deal of situations in a vast amount of countries 9/11 is completely insignificant. That doesn't make anyone who died any less significant but in general it is over memorialized and embraced by the media. For news stations that do coverage about it every year I'm sure they double the price of advertising and greatly enjoy another bump in yearly profits.

To the credit of the thread, Ms. Rose found it to be significant event in her life and opened it for discussion. If she had been near a train bombing in Europe or the genocide in Bosnia maybe that would be discussed.

To not address what I quoted you on but a few other posts if someone had posted a thread about a loss that didn't relate to me I wouldn't waste my time inciting anger from them just to tell them that to me the event really didn't matter. Theres no point in belittling other peoples feelings, unless that's what gets you off.

I wasn't intending on belittling anyone's feelings, I was simply saying that I wish people would also pay attention to all the other things that go on in the world. I agree. It is very sad. The families must have went through so much pain, especially if they lost numerous family members or friends. But what about the other people too? :( It's kind of sad.

Aside all that, I also remember having to write a short journal entry about it. I had no idea what I was writing, because I didn't even know about the event. Hell, I didn't even speak English. Now that I actually understand the event and watched some videos, I realized the impact it had on the world.

I meant by, 'not to address what I quoted', to say that you weren't belittling them. :) I do agree in light of other tragedies around the world its given far too much attention, or rather they are not given enough attention.

While I'm not american, this was on the news very shortly after it happened. I was in school back then, and probably too young to understand what was going on, or I just didn't care. In any case, I remember we got free after we saw the news on tv in school.

Sorry for all the victims of 9/11.

I actually go to school/live in Manhattan. I was in 4th grade at the time, and I remember it being some sort of election day or something because usually we would line up inside the building before our teachers came and grabbed us. However, we were in the yard of P.S.1 and we were just playing when all of a sudden the lunch ladies/police officers/teachers/random people came down and just brought us to class. Our teachers never mentioned anything about it and throughout the day - most people were picked up by their parents.

So you're what, fifteen now? If you're American your story is unlikely. We're inundated annually with a barrage of 'rememberance' programming. I mean, how could it not come up?

If you're nationality is something else, it'd be much more understandable. But still, anytime the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq are brought up, there's the inevitable mention. Jesus - to not know about 9/11, having lived through it. I imagine you'd have to live under a rock.

You spend billions on getting to the moon yet people starve on a daily basis in your country.

This was a different era than the one we are living in now. We have done a great deal of changing in our country. In fact, NASA's annual budget has been cut dramatically.
1969 the percentage of the money spent on NASA was a staggering 2.1% while in 2010 it was a mere 0.52%.

You're all fat. And some of you are super fat.

I'm not fat. My friends aren't fat. Perhaps by "all" you mean "some". Yes, American's have a horrible diet. However, I would argue that it's the fattest of the fat that brings the ratio up. As most people around town my age or older are not fat at all.

    Your police are fucking idiots.

Those who selflessly dedicate themselves to protecting others is whom you decide to call idiots. I suppose this is because you aren't aware what the word "selfless" means, considering you've already stated anything that doesn't particularly pertain to you is of absolutely no importance.

Other than films, games and porn, America sucks. In fact, the only good states are Cali, LA and NY. Fuck the rest.

Yes, Los Angeles is a wonderful state
I'll forgive on that one though, considering I'm terrible at geography as well.

    ______________

The point of this was not to throw our grief into everyone's face. It was meant for those who were affected by this tragedy to come and discuss what they have went through. I understand there are horrible things that have happened to other countries which are very similar to that which happened to the States. However, I would feel extremely silly posting a 7/7 thread because I don't live in England. I do not in any way shape or form believe that the U.S is "the best country in the world". I will be the first to admit that we have idiots in our country. However, don't forget that we are not all the belligerent fools that you've come to known. Many of us are a polar opposite. I know we have faults, lots of faults, but to prosecute us on a thread that was intended for remembrance of a date where 3.000 of our fellow countrymen died seems a bit wrong. If it makes even the slightest difference, I would never consider such a thing upon you and your country, whichever it may be.

I would have been in year 8 I think...about 12 years old? Vaguely remember it being on the radio on the way home from school but not being too affected because I had no idea what the Twin Towers were and I don't think I was really paying attention to what was going on. Definitely saw a lot of the tv footage when I got in though, I think it had only just happened at that point.

I was more affected by the London bombings, it being so much closer to home and there were quite a few people I cared for in the city that day which made for a few unpleasant hours.

I don't really think about any of it any more. If we commemorate every tragic event, nothing would ever get done.

What you fail to acknowledge is that the USA also has a higher population than all of those nations. More people, more chances to land higher IQs. Also, the vast majority of the world recognizes that smart people go to America to make money, because money is quick here.

The only country that was not effected by the global depression was Lebanon. A single snapshot of a country for a year is like a blink of an eye.

What he was getting at is that our housing market (with deregulation from the republicans) fueled the entire banking crash of the past two years. We fucked everyone. No, we fucked everyone. Two years of recovery economics and we're still not out of the hole. Look at how long it took Greece to get it's act together, after they finally realized they can't pay one third of their workforce to do nothing all day. America doesn't pay our own workforce to do nothing, we send aide money to developing countries so they can do nothing all day. Google the IMF or the WorldBank. Ask yourself, can we afford to pay out that charitably when our own economy is shit?

America has a per capita GDP of $46,400. source: https://www.cia.gov/...ok/geos/us.html
Which is higher than Australia, Ireland, Iceland, and Canda. Source: https://www.cia.gov/...e=na&rank=27#ca

Again, more people, more chances someone will get rich. Also, per capita income is an average. It might seem obvious to mention, but that number means next to nothing. One person makes a dollar a year, one person makes 91,800 your average comes to 46,400.

All of these comments aren't even intelligent enough for me to make a good response to.

He's poking fun at an old laugh. The US has spent trillions to retain military supremacy, and yet people with nothing but some cheap AKs can keep the US Army occupied for years and years (almost a decade now) in Afghanistan. They make bombs with fertilizer, leave them on the side of the road with a remote detonator, and fuck us up without firing a shot.

Although, to be fair Lee, Vietnam wasn't chinks with rocks. Oh, sure the Viet Cong might've been pretty poor, but the NVA had tanks, artillery, air support and good guns from China.

Those who selflessly dedicate themselves to protecting others is whom you decide to call idiots. I suppose this is because you aren't aware what the word "selfless" means, considering you've already stated anything that doesn't particularly pertain to you is of absolutely no importance.

You've got a sharp tongue, but you really didn't refute his opinion.

And what kind of adjective is selfless for the police? Most of them have a mortgage to pay, or a family or something. They're not so altruistic that they became police officers for the free donuts. Just because they 'protect' people, doesn't immediately make them saints. Fucking Rodney King.

I don't really think about any of it any more. If we commemorate every tragic event, nothing would ever get done.

This is due to the fact that the world has changed greatly. If war was the way it was 100 years ago it wouldn't be an issue. Go in kill everyone until no one is willing to fight anymore, fight is over. Unfortunately and fortunately, bombing cities into submission isn't an option anymore because people cry about how civilians are killed. So now in a crowd of 1000, 10 have explosives and cause vast amounts of damage before they are taken out. In WW1 all 1000 would have been killed to take out those 10 and no one would have thought less of those soldiers.

I can't count the number of times I've seen on tv "a neighborhood was hit and 10 civilians died," or "a mosque was hit and 50 people died." In the days that war was war it would have been "The entire city was annihilated and we were victorious." Not that I don't agree that life is sacred, but you can have swift victory or long drawn out wars that amount to vasts amount of money spent and relatively little damage done.

Hellooooooooooooooooo 9/11 was an inside job

While I don't buy into the conspiracy theories behind it there are several good reasons that you could be correct that don't focus on most of the conspiracy jargon.

    1. I live within a few miles of the pentagon and it takes me 15-25 minutes to drive a mile due to traffic. Within 10 minutes every single security camera in Pentagon City/Crystal CIty (the city surround the pentagon) was seized by the FBI. There wasn't time to close the roads or clear the traffic. The FBI had to have been in place and ready.

    2. The vast amount of money coming into America from the Mideast is from weapons sales. Iraq became a strong military rival which could rival Israel giving most Muslim countries peace of mind. Because of that weapon sales declined. Taking out Iraq means all the surrounding Muslim countries must spend vast amounts of money on military technology because that safety net is no longer there. With the fall of a strong military power in Iraq, Iran stepped up their military power and took their place as the greatest threat and security against Israel. There is a reason they went from a slight worry to zomg number 1 threat to America.

If you want to know whats going on, anywhere in the world, follow the money.
