#1248586 Requesting Faerie Abilities Guide

Posted by Devilfish on 18 January 2010 - 06:34 AM

Well, it's done. I wrote it in Openoffice Writer and I used a lot of tables, and I'm not sure how to format it properly in a forum post so I'll just attach the file. (Sorry for the .rar, it won't let me attack attach a document)

I've used a lot of sources from around the net and I've listed the most important ones in the document, but be aware that some sources seem to disagree on what abilities do exactly, for example how many points or percent a healing ability actually heals.

I did my best to check and double-check everything, but I can't promise it's perfect. If you find any mistakes or there's something you feel is missing from the guide, feel free to point it out.

I know right? I have my demonoid account I use religiously. I am a pirate queen.
You didn't hang on ModtheSims2 did you? LOVED that site.

Me too, at first back when it was still just MTS. Then the whole paysite war started and I helped found the FFFSS. That didn't work out (because Inge Jones is weird) and I moved over to the PMBD side of things. That's all I'm allowed to say, otherwise Pescado will come to my house and murder my doggy :ninja:

Women are not inferior, I just don't think the majority of girls give a rats ass about winning a level in a fucking game on their playstation. Yeah yeah, there are girls who are awesome at games blah blah blah. But the fact is gaming is like reading comic books or going to strip joints. There are certainly women who are comic nerds and women who frequent strip clubs, but the proportion of male to female is much greater on the male side. *Kanye shrug*

Doesn't bother me at all, actually. There will always be things that are more attractive to guys than girls. What does bother me is that people make wild assumptions about me and other women based on our sex. When it comes to gaming, these stereotypes are often very extreme an extra-strength stupid. There's this guy I've been gaming with for about three years now (roleplay, video games, the works) and he still thinks I spend all my free time shopping, gossiping and crying about my weight. It's insane.

I had similar experiences with a hardware store here. I came in to buy some RAM (this is the type of store where the salesperson needs to do everything for you, including getting what you want from the shelf) and he immediatly matter-of-factly asked me what type of RAM my boyfriend wanted.

#1245901 [G U I D E] Proxys and How to use them!

Posted by Devilfish on 07 January 2010 - 06:14 AM

I think you should include foxyproxy as part of your guide...

Posted this in the other thread as well, but if you're including FoxyProxy I found this video guide extremely helpfull as well:

Thanks for the guide!

If all 13,206 posts are like that, I seriously doubt I'll reach 500 posts anytime soon. A couple of bucks a months is a fair price to pay to be rid of this asshole.

#1244034 Do humans have free will?

Posted by Devilfish on 30 December 2009 - 02:37 PM

Actually, there is some scientific proof that what we know as free will is mostly an illusion. In short, certain parts of the brain light up on a scan before we make the concious decision to act. I'll admit the details of this are largly beyond me and neuroscience is a relatively new branch, but it's scary all th same. We're not even close to understanding how our brains work, but to answer you question in this light; no, it doesn't.

I prefer the philosophical approach, myself. I'm religious, but my faith doesn't have much to say on the concept.

#1243833 China executes British citizen for drug smuggling

Posted by Devilfish on 29 December 2009 - 03:34 PM

And yet huge diplomatic battles ensue every year when countries refuse to deliver citizens to their home country to be tried and convicted. And rightly so. There are many reasons for this. Here's one. If, for example, I commit a crime in France and get sentenced to a jail term, why should French taxpayer money be used to keep me locked up? Then, if I go back to Belgium to serve my sentence here, I have the right, by law, to ask for a retrail. Human rights are delicate things and not to be trifled with at a whim just because we think it's 'not fair' or 'ridiculous'. These systems are in place to protect you and me as well as anyone.

International law is insanely complex. For the most part, the same rules apply everywhere, it's the sentences that differ. Drug smuggling is a crime pretty much everywhere. But the sharia, for example, isn't upheld here in the west. If I was a woman about to get stoned for what is a crime according to the sharia, I'd sure s hell move to the west too.

I know my legalese English fails, but I'm sure you get my point. Trust me, in Dutch I'd be so eloquent you'd weep :D
