You get special premium random events, which yes, happen often. Apparently they're going crazy currently, a lot of people are getting 25+ a day, though I haven't gotten any. Most of the random events are finding a few thousand neopoints or getting a cheap item. Occasionally you'll find an UB though. You also get a space scratchcard once a week, which I'm pretty sure are impossible to lose on.
