When it's more than a couple of lines of text, I agree. But when it's just there to be aesthetically pleasing and not so much to be read, I don't think it's really that big of a problem.
It's all personal preference in the end anyway, I think.

It's bright. 
I'd tone down on the lighting a bit and try to make the focal pop out a little bit more. I'm not a fan of the text.. and wouldn't have spotted it if it you didn't mention it. Nice border, although it's damn near impossible to see against Codex's light blue background.
