It's a nightclub that a few of my friends have frequented. Thankfully they're safe. A bunch of my friends in Orlando have been marking themselves safe which is such a relief to see.

I just seriously can't begin to understand. I'm honestly so dumbfounded. I just feel for the families and friends of those lost and injured.

This was considered an act of domestic violence, like San Bernadino, but I would not be surprised if it was a terrorist attack. :(

And I fear this will only make Islamophobia in the US worse. Domestic terrorism? Yes. Hate crime? Yes.

But it had nothing to do with his religion.

different reports are saying he was on the watch list, but regardless, he took out a certain group of people for a reason.

It's just funny how they call it a terrorist attack just because of his religion and they'll probably say it was an act upon ISIS.

What happened was unfortunate but this shouldn't be seen as anything involved with his religion. Prayers to the victims.

My heart goes out to all my fellow Americans who lost loved ones in this awful attack.

I just watched Obama's speech.

OBAMA, if you want to do something great, try protecting us from terrorists.  Stop using every tragedy as an excuse to peel away our Constitutional rights!

Yeah. Terrorism. That's your key issue here. Make sure you keep your right to arms though.

Ali said it better than I could have. I keep writing and erasing what I want to say.

There's a problem with guns in the U.S., and no one needs an assault weapon.

Shootings may be an issue, but terrorism is this issue.  Keep guns away from criminals and mass shooters, I am all for that.  But I am not willing to give up my rights because some people are idiots.  I'm just not.

How often have you had the need to wave your guns around to protect yourself? How valuable is your right when so many others suffer for it?

Terrorism is not the issue. The issue is arms are not thoroughly regulated in this country. People can buy guns at a gun-show, or online, without a background check. People can buy assault weapons, which are unnecessary and extreme. Meanwhile, people are whining because they think reasonable regulation = taking your rights away, when it isn't. Waaahhh, guns are my god given right. Fuck that noise, man.

I mean, it is one of the issues. Clearly we need sweeping gun regulation reform, but when a terrorist organization claims responsibility for an attack then yeah, terrorism is an issue.

I firmly stand by what I said. At the moment, despite the 911 call, it's simply too soon to tell what was this person's motivation. That being said, there are far fewer events of domestic terrorism than mass shootings, with unrelated causes. That's the point @Ali was making and the point I was further agreeing with, and emphasizing. I'm sorry that I was not clear.
