First thing I'd like to say (because it's at the top of my mind) is Frostorm didn't misread or really misspeak. In fact, I had no idea English was their second language as they seemed to have spoken much better English than most of the people I see around. The statement "Weed is listed as more harmful than meth" is partially true. It is in fact listed as a CI drug as opposed to meth which is listed as a CII. However, that isn't necessarily a statement of harm. Schedule I drugs are scheduled as they have NO medicinal properties (as evaluated by the FDA.) Methamphetamine is used medicinally in severe cases of obesity, narcolepsy, and ADHD under the trade name "Desoxyn" The drugs are scheduled subsequently not by harm done by the drug, but rather by potential for abuse/addiction.

Next, I'm very glad early on that Patrick pointed out the difference in crack cocaine and cocaine hcl. He really did the matter great justice and I applaud him on that. I would like to reiterate a small point and add a bit to that... Cocaine cannot be smoked (realistically... I mean, you may get 1% vaporized but it's CERTAINLY not cost effective) in it's common form as a hcl salt. Crack is also not really used for snorting or IV administration... (Would you wanna shoot a product that you know you added baking soda to into your veins?) As for the snorting? Cocaine HCl has a much higher bioavailability nasally than the freebase form... So although some idiots may do it, it's largely ineffective at every level. As to the question regarding why someone would smoke crack over snorting cocaine; Do you not think the high from smoking marijuana is different from eating a brownie? The rapid increase in concentration of the drug in your bloodstream provides for an immediate and much stronger high with a shorter duration... So yes, Crack is just the freebase form of cocaine. The differences lie solely in the route of administration.

Note: I'm all about the promotion of education on a topic that can be largely considered taboo, but I do think that it is imperative to be properly educated ourselves so that we are not spreading around urban legends as cold, hard facts. If anyone has any questions pertaining to a specific drug or a class of drugs, you can feel free to ask me. Feel free to contact me if you even are just seeking a good source of unbiased information on the material at hand.

So the two are essentially the same chemical with different means of entering your blood stream. The high you experience is the same though, is it not? Only the intensity varies?

It's loads of fun, lasts 8 or so hours with a $10 hit(at least from my experience), very cost effective. Decays in the presence of light(learned that the hard way =P ) but go with erowid for a more extensive article...

@Frost; I will gladly post some info about it. Unfortunately, I have a class super early in the morning and must rest now. The link that jared posted above is a good source of info, though. (I'll try to post some info tomorrow but if you have any specific questions, it would help me not write endlessly. :p)

Well... there are slight variations in the subjective experience... but essentially, yes.

As for the same chemicals, yes. :p (I'll explain more tomorrow. MUST SLEEP!)

Threw you an involuntary helping hand.
I have no schedule really... I only smoke. I never had or never will try anything hard. But as far as frequency goes I suppose I only smoke 4 times a month. Not really once a week, but occasionally all 4 times are in one week or just spread out.

Yup, i've tried it only once and it's one cool experience, mine lasted 10 hours and my fellow travelers (friends) and i spent around $12 on it. Still i wanted more info cuz they did it recently again (we did like 6 months ago) and i know it's not like marijuana that you can smoke it frequently and won't damage your organism very much. I mean, this is more like serious stuff, so i needed more info.

I've heard of people using it very frequently. There were a lot of cases like this back in the 60's and 70's, if I'm not mistaken, when lsd was starting to become popular.

Yup, there are many people that use it fequently because the experience is quite... i dunno how to describe it, it's freaking fantastic, just as if you were in a fabulous story. Anyhow, that's not the point; the point is that if you use it frequently you can get seriously damaged, that's why i wanted more info.

You are in a fabulous story... It's called life! Psychedelics just make you more aware of that fact. :p

As to dangers of LSD... Unless you have access to tens of thousands of hits in pure crystalline form and mistake it for another powder, you will not die (directly from an overdose, anyways...)

The only real present danger with drugs like LSD are psychological damage or doing something incredibly stupid like playing in traffic... Both can be minimized by taking a known quantity in a safe and secure setting while in a period in your life without heavy stress. It can also be helpful to have a sober friend around.

The stories you frequently hear about "acid flashbacks" are really referencing to PTSD. A nightmare sized trip can be incredibly traumatic and can cause you to experience PTSD...

So no... no real physical harm done unless you are literally taking tens of thousands of 'hits' at once.

Psychological damage is a very real thing, however... so don't go pissing into the wind. :p Just take proper precautions and always be honest with yourself.

My only other advice is not to go too far down the rabbit hole. ;)

So the damage is actually psychological... That's funny cuz i'm actually studying psychology, would be great to do a project based on LSD. What i've heard is that actually destroys a pretty ammount of brain cells (more than alcohol), so if you use it often, it gets you a serious brain damage.

No. LSD is not neurotoxic... Your main neurotoxic drugs are alcohol, methamphetamine, and MDMA.

An actual concern you may need to have about psychedelics such as LSD is if you have a history of mental illness. It can bring about latent psychological issues such as schizophrenia. I highly suggest staying away from psychedelics if you have mental disorders or if you have a family history of mental disorders... Otherwise, if you tread with respect and caution, LSD is incredibly safe.

A good/average dose is 100ug. A fatal dose orally is actually unknown as no one has ever died from a direct overdose of LSD orally. There is a case of a man shooting up something like 320mg (3200 good hits). There is another case of people at a party mistaking a vial of LSD for a vial of cocaine... )

http://www.erowid.or...lsd_death.shtml Has a list of the fatalities along with LD50's and links to the autopsy reports involved in the few case studies around.

If you are more concerned about overall health, check out http://www.erowid.or...sd_health.shtml

Thanks for the info, i'll take it into account since i've been misinformed then. I thought it was due to the high amount of chemicals it had that caused physical damage into the neurostructures of the brain, but now that i know this i'll know what i'm dealing with in my next trips. Tho, i've promised myself to take it easily, LSD is not something to play a lot with since the experience may be too much for a weekly or maybe monthly basis.

I'm really sorry to hear about your brother, Dayzee. :(

@Frost I suggest you actually slow that down to once or twice a year. 4 times a year is a good upper limit... I've tripped probably close to 1000 times but definitely more than 500 times all within the period of a few years. I've spent an entire week dosing back-to-back-to-back-to-back with different psychedelic drugs with no sleep. I know that I definitely pushed a little too hard and am really pretty lucky to only have had two bad trips. (One ended fine... just fucked with my feelings about religion is all.) The other one was an unknown amount of LSD but believed to be 15-20 hits that ended with me trying to fight police officers and ambulance technicians as they tried to get me to the hospital... In both situations, I took much more than I had planned or expected and wasn't prepared for the journey. In the latter trip, I knew that I had died and had to make amends with everyone I have ever even met in the world before I could transcend into the after life. I was planning on getting married soon at the time and my ego started fighting hard because I wasn't ready to leave my s/o behind. It's this fighting that caused my problems... If things do go sour, just remember it IS a drug and don't let your ego get in the way... Just go with the flow.

Oh yeah. My point is that from frequent use I found that it's most effective when you take it with at least a month in between but more is better. Allowing yourself to grow as a person for a period of time and then coming back and allowing yourself an honest appraisal of the growth and your current standing.

    Off to class!

Psychedelics may have triggered your brother's illness, but they didn't turn him into a schizophrenic. I'm sorry about your brother, but he was already predisposed to the disease and it would shown itself eventually had he experimented with drugs or not.

Also, people generally link schizophrenia with drug use because the onset of schizophrenia usually occurs during the time that most people experiment with drugs. This is correlation, not causation.

Maybe you weren't actually high. It's not uncommon for people to feel very little their first time, most likely due to inhaling improperly. The moment you realize you feel high isn't going to hit you like a slap in the face, but you should at least feel good. It's also possible that you didn't smoke enough, that it was just shitty weed, or both. Also, different types of cannabis produce different highs. Unless smoking made you feel absolutely horrible, I think you should give it another shot.

If I wasn't prompted with random piss tests like I had this morning, maybe. But a lifestyle in the military is a lifestyle without pot for me.

Hey taking too much LSD/Acid can severely destroy your brain and cause schizo or some other forms of mental illness..But that is taking a huge amount of crap that would cause that.

I usually smoke 3-4 times a week, but it depends..I just got an O so I have been doing it at lest 2-3 times a day for the past couple of days.
