Trying to say that the death of one man is meaningless is a simplistic thing that doesn't take into account the value of morale in a time of war.
It also doesn't mean that everyone is going to suddenly feel a wave of relief for the lives lost. It just means that one of the bastards that helped make that happen will never be able to do so again.

There is no proof at all that he's been killed. Apparantly, due to islam customs the body had to be burried within 24 hours and they burried at sea. Sounds far to convenient to me
Are they giving him the honours by doing so?

I don't really know if it's any cause for relief. He's a martyr to them now, still a very long road ahead. Does it really offer any closure or justice when we all know people will still die for this cause?

I'm liking the quote from one of the 9/11 survivors that's going around. "I just can't find it in me to be glad that one more person is dead, even if it is Osama Bin Laden"

It might give closure to some of the families of the people killed during 9/11, for the rest of us it's probably going to result in even more deaths as a direct response and it's not going to impact much on the organisational structure of Al-Qaeda because they're so distributed now.

agree with the comment, all of hte celebrations and such seems very premature to me, with all the warning and such about hte consequences if he ever died i can see why everyone is on redalert status.
Just hope that this is something that just passes and that everything will be okay
the quote in itself sums it all up, it would be much better if there was peace rather then this retaliation

Fuck your anti-American ass. If you wanted him quicker, you should've enlisted and gone hunting cave to cave for him yourself!
He's dead and I hope we can bring our boys home from Afghanistan now!
lol if they were in Pakistan for 10 years just looking for Bin Laden they sure all did a crappy job.

+rep. Everyone here has been touched by the war, and celebrating a major step to it's ending is a great relief. The thought that there are people all over the world bitching about missing a bit of a reality show because of it is indeed sickening.
^ Complete agreement.
My brother is currently stationed in Afghanistan. Regardless of where you are from or your personal beliefs, respect should be shown considering the amount of lives lost and damaged because of this war.
This is a major step, but I unfortunately don't see my brother, or any of our men coming home any time soon.

This mage me giggle..This being all said, how come no one is bringing up Pakistan? Supposedly an American ally for numerous years, Musharraf and all those other crooks are just as bad...They take our money with one hand and give it to the Taliban/help em out with the other. There is no way Pakistani intelligence did not know Bin Laden was there...

But just because Bin Laden has been killed, nothing really will change for the better in my opinion. The way I see it, whoever was his 2nd in command at Al Qaeda will take the helm. Hell, they might be longing to prove themselves, and attempt another attack on America. Maybe Al Qaeda will just hate the USA even more, and seek revenge for Bin Laden's death.

I'm not going to lie, I haven't actually read any of this thread so I don't really know if anyone's said something similar.

Hey, at least they buried him in accordance to Muslim traditions. Had they not, a lot more people would be pissed at us

I don't see them coming back anytime soon either. Unfortunately America is kinda like the world police (Team America, anyone?) and we will probably be over there for at least 5 more years trying to establish a democracy that'll never last.

Now that we have Bin Laden, I'm sure Pakistan can kiss our ass...This mage me giggle..This being all said, how come no one is bringing up Pakistan?
