I'm not really sure what stereotypes I fit to a T. At least none that I actually -am-. I'm not actually Canadian, but lived there for four years and man was I ever a stereotype lol. Drinking beer and Screech, watching hockey, listening to Our Lady Peace and Great Big Sea all the time. The biggest thing is that I will say sorry to someone if they bumped into me. I guess the mentality is that I'm sorry I got in their way...? Plus the fact that I'm a strong believer in their mindset of politics when it comes to social issues. That helped, too.

Most people wouldn't know by looking at me on the street, but I am a gigantic freakin' nerd. I get it from my mom and I can't help it. I read scientific articles and wikipedia pages in my spare time in between my school studies. I work at Petco and I do research outside of work on the animals and the best way to care for them. I've become a small animal encyclopedia and I'm not even getting paid. I think there's something wrong with my head.

As a female, I'm extremely maternal, care about my appearances, love to wear pretty dresses, and I'm an extremely emotional person - though that doesn't always show on the surface. I also don't particularly drive well according to an ex, but that's because I'm a defensive driver and don't go more than 5mph over the speed limit. Gossip Girl, for a while, was also a horrible guilty pleasure. I'm so ashamed :(

If, however, I were to list the stereotypes I do not fit, I would fill a novel. But isn't that what it means to be a well rounded human being?

Minnesotan:  I enjoy hotdish, but don't even think about suggesting lutefisk.  Hockey.  Some of the things Minnesotans say, you know?

Wisconsinite: Beer is good.  Beer is good.  Beer is good! And stuff!

American:  There are other countries? (Notice how I didn't say U.S. citizen?  Because the U.S. of A. is the most important of the Americas.  They named the continent after us.)  Oh, and I'm strongly contemplating buying a CCW and doing the necessary classes to carry that weapon.

    White: Can't dance, or jump.

Currently I fit into the stereotype of Black people can dance and are atheletic. Personally I blame slavery  ;) . I however defy the stereotype the black people are lazy and uneducated as I am currently pursuing my math PhD.

I didn't know tea didn't come with as much sugar as my kool-aid until I was 13

I woke up this morning and was still smirking about this. I'm not American, but I've had the pleasure of meeting some lovely AA (African-Amercian) ladies on a layover. They asked about Canada (born and raised :D) and I asked about Southern life and they both overloaded me with so much information. Something about your post, reminded me of one of the ladies and she was a riot.

Hmm, I'm trying to think of how I can contribute to this thread. I'm a bit of a walking ball of confusion after living in a few different countries. Hmm, alright lets see.

(Born) Canadian: I hunt, fish and go camping. I apologize a lot, I'm super friendly and I play hockey.

(Mannerisms) English: My Grandmother (Moms-mom) went to school private school in Winchester, but was born in Jamaica. Then later moved to Canada. Since they're pretty affluent all that high society business was part of my upbringing.

Asian: My Mother is half Chinese (the rest is a mixture of Jamaican and English/Scottish), she is definitely a tiger mom. So the whole the studying, no boyfriend, no partying was part of my upbringing. I'm pretty competitive because she pushed me so much. The only thing that I still enjoy from all the 5 different after-school lessons I took weekly was classical singing (opera). I use chopsticks for everything, mixing eggs, mixing batter....pinching my little brother. I say, Aiya a lot. I practice Lunar New year. Tiger balm.

Jamaican: My mother was born in Jamaica, but doesn't act like a typical Jamaican because of her upbringing. But, if you get her angry the "Patois" comes out and its very scary. So, naturally I picked that up. I'm super nice and sweet until you piss me off and I start shouting at you in Patois. Also, if I hear reggae, I start dancing. :D I cannot deny dem island feels man.  (Yes, there is a lot of Chinese in Jamaica from slavery: http://en.wikipedia....inese_Jamaicans people always are always shocked by this)

English/Scottish: Traditional English breakfast, Bangers and mash, Shepard's pie, Cottage Pie, Fish and Chips, Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Porridge, Kippers, Stovies, Cranachan, Shortbread. I can Highland dance and really enjoy Highland games (because of the large Scottish population in Canada, we host them as well).

Spanish: My Dad is from Spain, but acts completely Canadian. That is where I learned to love the outdoors. But his entire family is VERY Spanish (since only my Tia and him came to Canada for school and everyone else stayed in Spain). I love to Flamenco, listen to Spanish guitar and watch soccer. Jamon, Chorizo, Paella, Croquetas, Leche frita..mmmm. Roman Catholic. I love red nails and red lipstick.

(Moved)America: I'm patriotic towards the Soldiers, since I'm married to one. I get super offended when people shit talk soldiers, since a lot of them don't support the wars that they get sent off to fight. But, because of the contract they signed, they legally have to abide.Other than that, nothing 'American' as rubbed off on me. I'm very much a Canadian sore thumb. :p

(Moved) Korea: I speak Engrish when I speak to other English speakers, I say Pinku instead of Pink and Coppeh instead of Coffee. I bow a lot.

Geeky: Yeah, I was pretty much a basement dweller. I LARP, play D&D, attend conventions, I love Star Trek, Star Wars. I collect comics and have them sealed, boxed and categorized. I also collect manga and game art books. I play WAY too much vidya. I also have way too much geeky clothing and gear. Even a Left 4 Dead medpack backpack.

Professionally: I'm a Chef and I love food. I dream about food all day. But, when you come into my kitchen...you better have some respect and listen to instructions. I don't play any games.

    I'm such a fancy french lady, I can't even.

    • I wear classic BCBG stuff and think that Audrey Hepburn is the ultimate fashion guide.

I'm sure there are lots of stereotypes about me.. but I'm bad of checking them myself.

I used to be one of those "ugh no I hate pink (because pink is so feminine and in this society it equals with being weak and I'm not willing to be associated with that)" girls- now I loooove it. I'm a girly girl, I love bows and ties and other cute stuff. I love cooking and baking and being organized at home and every few weeks there is someone who assures me I'll be the perfect mother/housewife :lol2:

And I'm not interested in maths (I find science fascinating, though!) and I find soccer lame.

What maybe isn't typical is that I look rather innocent and people react kind of shocked when I suddenly start being quite sarcastic and/or if I start talking quite openly about sex. (Quite many people assume that I'm shy about that topic even though I'd like to give Sex Ed in schools some day, when I learned enough about it myself.. and in a conversation I can go from "what kind of hobbies do you like" to "do you like being chocked in a sexual way" in less than 5 minutes, if I want to :lol2: )

In general, I am more jaded than I look like.

New addition to the stereotype box:

I've noticed lately that I seem to be the pretty boi with a foul mouth... and most of my friends fill that box too.

I defy the 'maths loving geek' stereotype by being ultra creative in the visual arts department and a languages god. An enigma. To add to that, I SUCK at science (half my family are scientists)

Just the word Chef and I'm excited. We would get along well. As long as you have a deep fryer.

I am from south Italy, and I fit a lot of stereotypes about us: we eat a lot, mostly pasta (everyday, sometimes two times a day), are very open, direct and friendly. I personally love pizza and coffee.

BUT I' not a plumber who spends all his days jumping and talking to dinosaurs and eating mushrooms

She was pretty damn awesome and kinda did remind me of the stereotypes you see on TV, but it didn't bother me. She was a real, genuine person and I loved that about her. I could not pronounce her name for the life of me, let alone try to spell it. @_@

    Mmm, sadly there isn't much frying going on in the Kitchens I ran. Since it was mostly French and Italian foods primarily being served.  At home I fry things in a wok. -_-;;;

Oh honey you are missing a whole world of heaven. You don't need a deep fryer, just fill that skillet with lard (I guess vegetable oil works too  :noway: )

Fried twinkies, fried oreos, fried mushrooms, fried pickles, fried Snickers, fried spaghetti, fried cheesecake

It's a miracle that I'm not the stereotypical 300lb black woman.

There is literally nothing better than banana muffins made with lard instead of butter. The bottoms get all crispy and they have a subtle pig flavor and it's so good.

I just don't understand! Why lard? It's so greasy and heavy (Maybe this is just because I was a vegetarian for 6 years but still I just never got it)

It's not any greasier or heavier than butter, coconut oil, crisco, etc etc

I was a vegetarian for a few years, but I don't think I'll ever go back by choice.
