Is there a guide anywhere? I have no idea where to start.

No idea what he's talking about as far as searching for lionesses two levels below you.
I found my first few via explore.
"Claim lioness" if you see a wild one or "invite" if you see an injured one.
This'll bring up a screen like this:
Use the first four to try and impress her. The higher your impress rating (blue bar on the right) the easier it is.
If all goes well your third or fourth option will allow you to "head bonk" (or something like that) which is basically "hey, join my heard" and she'll either do just that or "lol no" and leave.
Once you have a lioness you can send them out for food via Hunting at the bottom of the Explore tab.
Different squares are different like environments (plains, desert, jungle, brush, etc) which have different prey.
The more lionesses you send into similar squares the better their chance at finding bigger prey that has multiple uses (how many times it can be used to feed your lions/lionesses. (
Prey list)
Can send a max of five. (I like to send 3 to one type and 2 to another type).
When you have multiple lionesses you can establish hunting parties.
Hunts take 30 minutes. When you return tot he Hunting page after 30 min it'll say "see what they got" or something similar and gain exp, stats, and (usually) some form of food.
You level everyone up on your Den page by clicking their names.
It'll have a green up arrow when they're ready to level up (with the exception of your King/main lion which is kept track to the right; he gets to level up both exp and impression separately.)
And um...
When you're ready to sell stuff you'll need to upgrade your "Branch" (on den page). Costs silver beetles.
Can also expand territory on your den page for silver beetles. Bigger your territory the more lions, lionesses, and cubs you can have.
Beetles can be earned randomly doing Explore or selling to the monkey shop. Though sometimes it's best to just sell via your branch (which is essentially user shops). Can price check things via "
Sales" on the Explore tab. Generally it's 5 SB per use (so if you have a Elephant carcass with 5 uses you'll usually get 25 silver beetles per carcass).
Let's see... not all lioness are worth keeping.
I usually only keep ones with at least one marking that I like. If I don't like the marking(s), colour, etc. then I'll either kill it to gain "Evil Karma" (which changes your title and how some interactions go while exploring) or if I want a "good" lion/title I'll send her to the Nature Reserve.
Not many lionesses found exploring starting out are worth selling, but you can also buy/sell/trade to other users. But seems like, starting out, if you don't like your lionesses they're best for good/evil karma fodder.
