Do you guys like beer? I've been able to stomach some other alcoholic drinks ( begrudgingly ) .. but beer just .. I can't. Is it acquired taste? Because it's cheap?

Beer is definitely an acquired taste. I think for me I started being able to tolerate it after being a few drinks in, and then I started drinking some of the more expensive stuff like Stella and when I got the hang of that I would even drink beers while sober.

I used to absolutely HATE beer but learnt to drink it because, well, college. Now I can really enjoy the taste of beer so it's definitely acquired. Once you get around to drink special brews you'll figure out what you like most. White, blonde, dark, bock, cherry, rose, chestnut... I can definitely recommend Belgian beer :D Or Heineken. It's not the best Dutch brand (by far the worst, actually), but it's one of the few sold in the states if I'm not mistaken.

A; That's actually really interesting... the notion that people are still coal miners. Literally I imagine it as the old 1900s when people talk about coal mining, but it's still very much a thing.

Sucky about the mine shutting down (I think, there's also the notion that it sucks to work in them.) I'm sure he does, but, :Stay safe!: :/

yeah it was an above ground operation. Like taking down a mountain and building it back up again. Literally. You are tonka trucks in a sand box trying not to drive on the little hotwheels vehicles. Best paying entry level job I ever had. They trained me to operate everything.

That sounds great actually, especially because it's 37 dollars / hour. And they definitely take good care of their employees because they're afraid of worker's comp claims in the future. Shame they closed it down, it must have been a pretty dramatic change with everyone out of jobs.

Omg and Kwak beer. It's delicious. I can't really describe it but it has such a rich taste. Hmmm.

That's a really cool way of serving it. Most beer glasses here are pretty boring. Do you think the shape of the glass changes the flavour at all?

I just love when it's a girls night, they're all wasted and I'm sober. They do the most messed up stuff ever, and they remember nothing. I've had some pretty embarrassing moments, but whatever. I had a good time and if I made an ass of myself, who cares haha.

Also going to apologize in advance for what's to come. I'm on my 3rd drink, going back outside and I awlways feel slightly more drunk when I sit down soooo, yeah sorry everyone haha.

I love my pina colada and Malibu so I'm guessing coconut beer would be absolutely heavenly.

If you really want to try the finest of the finest beers you should do a pubcrawl in Bruges, Belgium! I went there with a former date for a couple of days and we were drunk 3 days straight :ninja: But it's a beautiful city and the beer is honestly delicious to drink instead of the collegecrap we usually get.

So here's another pic nobody asked for, me in Bruges. Very hungover and very obviously lol.

Hmm, I'm not really sure about the taste but it definitely affects the foam.

Do the dutch like a lot of foam in their beers? I just realized that there's a ton of it in that picture. I know we're not the biggest fan of it here in North America but in Japan they do like it.

Yep. I should mention it's metallurgical coal, used for making steel. Walter Energy is a penny stock now I think. We were unionized so that spared us a bit but they are in an ugly battle and we may never see any money from them. Just have to adapt and move on. It's kind of funny because Jay and I are pretty much hippies but our work in recent years doesnt really reflect that very well at all.

The town lost their minds. people were packing up stuff and holding yard sales in neighboring towns just to get money together to move away. There is no police presence at night (they are on call) so break ins are rampant no matter what street you live on. Our home has been tried a few times but I'm not too worried about that anymore.

Not per se, but beer without foam is a no-go. Foam that's two fingers high is perfect. I personally love foam though :)

You might like Framboise then! Lindeman's makes a lot of flavors (cherry too) but I love the raspberry (Framboise)

My mother is a Polish immigrant, a part of her bucket list is to take me to Europe and show me all the places she visited when she was growing up. I'll need to ask if she's ever been to Belgium.

Basically beer without foam is a no-go because it's a sign of flat old beer, and we want our golden drinks fresh and foamy
